We came here with high expectations after Reading previous reviews.
We met the owner in Bocas town and she was lovely and we were committed to going over for lunch.
We started with Ceviche and Conch fritters. The Ceviche had a lot going on. Diced peppers and celery, prawns, octopus, fish etc. Personally I like it Peruvian style. Lime onion, fish and cilantro - you can't better than that - less is more.
The conch fritters were delicious. I would have those every day.
Main course was Asian glazed tuna and coconut shrimp. The tuna had sadly been overcooked. The Asian glaze (like Teriaki) was yummy.
The coconut shrimp was ok. I think it needed some of that lovely Caribbean curry powder in the batter. The accompanying sauce was ok and it was served with tasty coconut rice and a basic side salad.
Cocktails were excellent and it was happy hour so $3 each. Plus the owner comped us a cocktail each. The location and the vibe were great, and only a $1 taxi ride from Bocas.
"Cleanest toilets we've seen so far in Central America" the missus said. And she judges a restaurant kitchen by the state of their toilets. Makes me wonder about some of the other places we ate in.

Restaurant used to be part of the Bucaneer Resort, Carenero Island
We decided to try for a different atmosphere on our last day and took the water taxi over for the afternoon. I guess I felt like I was missing a sort of relaxed beach hangout with tacos and good drinks. Bibi's unfortunately didn't cure that for me. The food was bland and expensive for what it was. It takes about 20 minutes to be waited on, 20 minutes for drinks, and about 30-40 minutes for food. Then you have to pay which required them flagging down your bill and adding it up. Really friendly staff which is always a huge plus, and a nice view of the water. They may just need one more bartender and add some local "no frills" food onto their menu

My wife and I spent 6 days in the Bocas area and visited Tribu twice. The owner and her mom (visiting), treated us like we were family! We enjoyed our snacks, lunch, and drinks so much that we decided to take the water taxi back to Carenero Island for another go! Try the hummus for starters--you will not be disappointed. There are afternoon drink specials to keep you lounging on the ocean view chairs while you watch boats cruise by and people surf on the beach around the bend. I suggest a water taxi as it is only 1usd pp from Bocas. The views are to die for, especially when you get home and think......if I could only be sitting with a cold drink at Tribu right now!
This place is well run, offers a fun vibe and a relaxing atmosphere so you can stay as long as you like.......just keep the warm breeze and drinks flowing please---thanks for everything, our visits to Tribu were a Panama/Bocas highlight for sure!
Pictures to follow, my computer was uncooperative.
Go there, have a bite to eat and soak it all in, it really is a piece of heaven on the beautiful ocean! Thanks for the memories, the excellent service, the tips on local places to visit and the welcome that we received. Mike and Molly

Caribbean contemporary cuisine with local products
The restaurant doesn't look like much from outside but the food is certainly world class. We decided to have a grouper which was one of the best groupers I've ever had, It came with an exquisite cauliflower puree. Presentation was very elegant. Everything fresh and full of flavor.
Everybody in our party was very happy and we want to come back as soon as we can. We loved the sophisticated food, charming, very personal service and local ambience. Wonderful!

Sincerely space created for the enjoyment of all your senses. Japanese cuisine developed to delight accompanied by cocktails and drinks.
Went for lunch, not open so we ate at BibI's. As we left BiBi's, 3 guys having lunch at Rustico, so we stopped to see the menu....probably would not try it.
