Its location and decor are great, but it is downhill from there.
I waited 45 minutes to get my okay tasting shrimp brochette. Service was very abysmal with my server flirting with every male in the place and more content to chat with other servers.
One can much better in this town than this place.

We were offered a very special cocktail with rum, blue curacoa, pineapple licquor and juice after the bell had rung to welcome us.The local speciality, filled beef roll, came with an abundance of delicious ingredients but the steep stairs in front of the entrance hall might result into an unexpectedly dangerous goodbye.

The 1800 Restaurant is located in the Plaza de San Juan de Dios, one of the most charming and emblematic areas of the Historic Center of Camaguey; declared by UNESCO as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity on July 7, 2008.
In it, visitors can taste various dishes of Cuban and international cuisine, which include a variety of tapas, seafood, fish, meat and vegetables; among other options. It also has a menu for vegetarians and a variety of cocktails, spirits, beers and wines.
Its slogan, "Style and History", defines and synthesizes the essence of the site; where the harmony with the colonial atmosphere of the Plaza, the presence of antique objects and the expressive qualities of local materials, are uniquely associated with its exquisite culinary offer and the quality of service, to offer you an unforgettable evening.
This infallible symbiosis, "Style and History", are the reasons that always guarantee a happy return to the 1800 Restaurant.
Restaurant 1800 is set in a lovely, quiet church square. We chose to sit at the tables outside in the square and to go for the 12CUC per person buffet. The buffet was laid out in a closed-off room inside the restaurant, so we got...MoreHello ekimbry, thanks for your review we are so happy for your satisfaction in our restaurant. We had a meal here, and by Cuban standards, it was very good! Staff were lovely and prices were good. Nice courtyard setting

When you step inside the restaurant and keep walking, you'll find a patio, walled in by lovely ceramic montages. We ordered ajiao, a stew historically made by the native Tainos. (Because of the multitude of vegetables and meats, ajiaco is a term used to describe Cuba's diverse peoples.) We spent about $6 (US), which included drinks and appetizers. We liked our dinner so much, we went back the next day and ordered the same thing for lunch. This was the only place in Cuba we could find ajiaco on the menu.

Place is good but not great. Food is good but there is something missing. Service is just ok in my opinion, but definitely not bad. Not sure why they call it "italian" place since its really sort of a pizza place. Ordered the lasagna and is not what we call lasagna in the states. Again, not bad but not amazing. Good drinks selection.

The restaurant/ bar has an air-conditioned room at the back. The menu is wide ranging, and the food quality great. But the daiquiri are to die for - easily the best in Cuba! It has a lovely atmosphere, with staff who don't hover but always...MoreThank you for your excellent review. We invite you to come back!

We ran into this little place by chance and decided to try it. The dinning hall is at the end of a long, beautifully arranged and tiled hallway with comfy chairs to wait if full, which is not a rare event as food was simple but good and the cook knew how to use spices. The roast pork had cumin in it and the ropa vieja full of sweet Spanish paprika, the deliciously tender and crisp fried yuca had garlic and the rice was perfect. However, the menu was small, this is a very tiny business, a true Paladar, and attention was friendly and homey but not professional: our order did not come together and hers was lukewarm. The coffee was mediocre and the desert guava shells in syrup right out of a can, with white, fresh made cheese and we had pineapple and papaya fresh juice to drink The bill came to 11 CUC with 10% tip It's only one block from República St at #8 Santa Rosa. We liked both the place and the owners..

El Paso Restaurant is distinguished by its attachment to the traditions of Camagüey, its glamor and the elegance of its decoration. Located in one of the most beautiful places of our Heritage City, the Plaza del Carmen, where is the only church of two towers of the town. El Paso is a space where art and good cuisine converge, where the real wonder is expressed. El Paso Restaurant, elegance and tradition.
This restaurant offers inside or outside dining and is located in a prime spot on the Plaza del Carmen, a charming colonial plaza with an interesting church and a large number of galleries, including the Galeria Martha Jimenez (reviewed separately). Portions were large and the food was adequate but not particularly good. The first course, a black bean soup, was tasty but would have been better served as part of the meal with white rice. They serve an interesting type of lasagna that we didn't particularly care for. Fish was dry, but the chicken was actually pretty good. They also serve a local beer, Tinima, that we didn't like, but were glad we tried it anyway. If you're looking for a good Cuban beer (amber), try Bucanero. They do have quite a good happy hour special, by the way, if you're looking for cheap drinks in the afternoon!

Sepp the owner is a great guy making you feel welcome and special, and normally he cooks personally for you, from the simplest pancake to the real Wiener Schnitzel or Gulasch. Special also the décor of the place, takes you to a little Austrian inn. Sepp's specialty is Deserts, so keep yourselves a little room for those delicious treats!
