This is a special restaurant. Great menu, fresh produce, and great service. Wonderful experience. Only opened Thu-Sat nights when we went so book when you get on the island. Not an extensive wine list but what was there was fine. One of the two very good restaurants on Norfolk Island.

This beautifully restored house is the centrepiece at Governor's Lodge offering gorgeous surrounds, fine cuisine, Chef's specials and a dining experience to always remember. What a perfect place to enjoy lunch floating on the original flagstone verandah. Sip on a glass of wine or a cool beer while we look after your every need. Arrive and enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail in the bar area, relax and be shown to your table to select from the comprehensive a la carte menu and let your mouth water until the delights arrive, carefully placed by your smiling waiter.
I came in for a lovely family dinner. We ordered at 19:15 and received our mains at 20:15. We waited an HOUR for this "Thai stir fry". For $24, we received tinned baby corn, tinned mushrooms, carrots (these were fresh, thankfully) and raw snow peas. Coupled with half a cup of cooked rice per serving and doused in a salty soy sauce concoction. I don't think this meal had any semblance to Thai cooking and to wait an hour for this, was ridiculous. We left the restaurant 15 mins ago and I had to write an immediate review. The best thing about this whole night was the garlic bread.
Utterly utterly disappointed. How dare they take an hour to cook a stir fry? Stir fries should take no more than 10 mins to cook. I have been around and there are actually fresh veggies in stores. It makes no sense that most of the veggies were tinned!!!!! Please refer to the pictures. How many tinned baby corns do I need in my dish? Another diner had the prawn vegetable stir fry and hers only had TWO raw snow peas. Please explain.
If my elderly aunties weren't with me, I would have made a complaint there and then. Will not be coming back.

Fresh organic produce served in abundance from the local growers on Norfolk Island, incredible local fish and beef, Prepared in various styles and specialising in French, Italian, Australian for dinner, amazing Devonshire teas and affordable fresh and tasty lunch menu
This is a quality restaurant. Small menu done well which is a facet I always like. A little exxy by Norfolk standards but still very good value by Mid to Upper Oz restaurants. Important that you book earty. Was fully booked the night we went.
Hint: Book as soon as you get on the island.

Mariah's Restaurant, located within the Seaview Hotel & Cottages complex, offers casual dining in convivial surroundings and wonderful ocean views to Philip Island. Open for continental or full cooked breakfast, light lunches and evening dining.
I admit the view is fantastic, but we went there expecting to enjoy a good meal, after all, the prices suggested quality food. We went there at a reasonable time for dining out. 7.00 pm .My first choice (chicken) was not available, nor was my second choice (pork belly). That left fish or steak. I chose fish but could not finish this as the spicy sauce made it inedible. The female staff were very nice, although the male wine waiter could do well to clean his fingernails!!

Had dinner here during a visit to the Island. I had the T bone with a Garlic Sauce - spectacular. My wife had two entrees - both very good. Definitely worth a try.

Many of the wines are made on the island by Rod, but some are not. The quality is really good, and one of the varieties is fairly rare in Australia, but suits the humid island climate (chambourcin). Noelene produces the most amazing platters of local food which must be pre-ordered. Once you see the platters you will understand why that is the rule. Nothing could be better than sitting on the verandah quietly sipping a lovely wine, and sampling the goodies on the platter. Not cheap, but good value for what you get, all of a top quality.

We visited for lunch and only wanted something light. We wondered at the price of the smoked ham Sandwich, and the chicken Sandwich, until they arrived. They comprise a veritable mountain of chicken or ham topped by an imposing salad, and the whole lot is held together by a long skewer. It all went well with a very well filled glass of white wine. Excellent. I forgot to say that the views over the coast where Captain Cook initially landed are just brilliant.
