A gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains, Blue Ridge is home to beautiful lakes and spectacular mountains. Part of the Appalachians, the Blue Ridge range was aptly named for the bluish color that is most obvious when viewed from a distance. Great for hiking, relaxing or just enjoying the serenity, the mountains are a treat for anyone interested in a peaceful getaway.

When I have visited The Black Sheep in the past, it was always good, but something was missing each time. They never seemed to quite get it all right. Recently, The Black Sheep changed hands and I gave them time to make the changes they were going to make to see if it made a difference. It seems to have.
This was the first time I actually sat indoors, as before I was there in the afternoon and the porch seemed more inviting. The dining room was very nice, yet a bit warm, which they adjusted after a couple of us mentioned it. The music was nice but way too loud for my taste. It was like dining in a bar.
The menu offered many interesting choices, but I finally settled on the meatloaf, as did my dining companion. Meatloaf is not really my go-to choice, but I am not a big steak eater (and they offered many) and I didn't see a chicken choice that appealed to me. One of the specials was mahi mahi. I didn't see or hear anyone ordering it, but I suspect it was very good.
I started with the beet salad, which was excellent, different beets on mixed greens with a few other things thrown in, with a nice light dressing. My companion had the house salad and it looked tempting as well. The bread for the table was very good, hot and tasty. It is served with Blue Ridge Olive Oil Company olive oil and balsamic vinegar. . a very nice touch using local companies.
When the meatloaf arrived, I was very impressed as it was a very large portion with a tangy sauce, that was exceptional. The roasted asparagus side was delicious. Unfortunately, my other side, the cheese grits were not warm enough to melt butter. They were very tasty, but should have been hotter. I mentioned this to our server and he offered to replace them, but by that point I had eaten half of them. Like I said, there were tasty, just not hot enough. I trust he mentioned this to the kitchen.
Craig, our waiter, was attentive without being obtrusive. Two different men stopped by our table to "check on things", but they never introduced themselves and we had to ask Craig who they were. He stated that they were two of the owners, neither one mentioned the grits. We were way too full for dessert, but I am sure they are amazing.
In summary, nice dining room with loud music. Great service from Craig. Excellent food (lukewarm grits aside). At their price point, this will be reserved for special occasions.
2 salads, 2 meatloaf entrees with two sides each, water to drink. . .$80.27 including tax and tip.

Stopped in after shopping all day, tired and cold. Got a double espresso with sugar and it didn't disappoint. Wasn't impressed with the pastries offered. Most came from the orchards and the few others just looked blah. The owner was friendly and attentive. Overall good experience for what I was looking for.

Girls' trip up North & stopped in Blue Ridge to shop around & have lunch. One in group had been there before and we still almost walked right by it. In fact we did walk by when shopping and didn't know it. When trying to find a place to eat we crossed the street & just happened to see it. The apple pecan spinach salad, basil soup, chicken salad, BLT and the Turkey, bacon & avocado sandwich were all great. We were there on a Thursday around 2:00. Not crowded and good service.

During a recent visit, my friend and I both ordered the blackened trout. OMG! It was fresh, cooked perfectly, and amazing. Accompanying the trout were black bean hummus, rice, delicious salad and green beans. The trout specialty changes seasonally. The decor fits the area. The restaurant is dog friendly on the porch. This is a stop you should make in Blue Ridge.

Very pleased with the overall experience. Staff and service was wonderful. Nicole did a great job with all of our questions and request. The motzarella bites and fresh marinara were great. I had the country fried steak, mac and cheese, and hashbrown casserole which were all excellent. My wife had the bit and fries and was also very pleased. It was a little loud for the amount of people there but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant. If you are in the area and don't visit I think you are really missingbnout on a wonderfully affordable meal.

Great atmosphere with terrific food variety. Bar is fully stocked. Best wings in town. Staff was very helpful and attentive. This was the second time I have been there and was just as awesome as the first time. Small, but they have put in as many seats as they can without packing you in like rats so you may have to wait. It is worth the wait though.

This place was recommended to us by a gentleman working at Hucks. We got the crab dip app and it was delicious. It was hot and came with great bread for dipping. My wife had the spinach and apple salad with blackened salmon. I tried a bite and the salmon had fantastic flavor and wasn't dried out by any means. They serve the entire menu all day long so I had the steak on a recommendation and it was fantastic. The waitress suggested serving it with the sauce they marinate the burgers in and I highly recommend that as well. Fantastic meal and we will go back often.
