The greatest perk of the restuarant is a beatufiul view on the Taumadhi square. The food is good, although a bit pricey.

Super interesting experience. To enter the restaurant, you climb up really steep stairs (that are almost like a ladder). This place is not handicap accessible nor good for people with limited mobility or balance - and if you had little kids, you'd want to make sure they could go up and down super steep stairs, or have one adult at top and bottom to help!
We loved talking with the owner, and trying traditional Newari food. There was a menu, and a photo album put on the table, to show photos of the food! We tried the most popular dish which is a plate with several Newari foods, all which were delicious - but the odd part is the 'flat rice' which it's served with. It's like dried, rolled rice, which is like eating super crunchy cornflakes. The owner told us to 'chew with our back teeth', lol, which was good advice as it was quite tough. Ok so I didn't love the flat rice, but it was interesting and felt authentic, and the rest of the food was really delicious. Loved the rest of it. Definitely worth a visit! The bathroom is very rustic ... if you're squeamish you might find another one to use. :)
Great location on a beautiful square with Peacock window nearby.

Sadly, we had an almost in edible meal here. We ordered fried rice (which was burned) and a Newari set meal (cold and lacking nice spice and flavor. It was the first day of the festival and likely help was hard to find. The service was good and the rooftop view nice.

The culinary delights here range from Newari and Nepali Dal Bhat to Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Indian and Continental delicacies. And when comes the question of the quality of our culinary offerings. We never forget Hygiene is our top priority. Adding to the mesmerizing ambience, we also have min-garden from which you can savor the splendor of nature's graciousness all around on the south, the bliss you feel at Shiva's cafe corner is something different. We do have Himalayan organice beans, instant, and filter coffee and also available italian LAVAZZA coffee. With additional different flavours of organice herbal tea.
I can’t actually review the food because they weren’t serving any. October is peak tourist season in Nepal & this restaurant is part of a hotel & in Durbar Sq but they were only serving drinks. October is basically a month of festivals in Nepal & having been here 2 months I know businesses struggle to keep their staff over festival time but if you are in the top 5 on trip advisor then this isn’t acceptable, find replacements or do it yourself.

We took here lunch and dinner, as we were sleeping at Bhaktapur.
As Lunch was good and owner very attentive, we decided to take as well dinner there instead to have bad surprise on an other restaurant.
Nepali Tali was delicious.
Momo and paneer pakora was good and for children they had some good burgers.
The location gave us some rest with a peaceful garden

We stopped here for a late lunch and we were blown away by the food. It was very tasty, super fresh, and a nice change from Dal-bhat. The brown rice and the vegetables were absolutely delicious. One of our favorite meals in Kathmandu, by far!

Located on the roof of the hotel, right in the center of the old city, Sunny restaurant is constantly developing and adapting along with the desires of the clientele, offering a relaxing environment.Breakfast on the roof top of the building or in the lobby area, a snack while admiring the daily life of inhabitants, a cocktail at the bar, an aperitif enjoying the sunset, a dinner on the Terrace, a midnight snack…

We were only able to eat at the hotel because we arrived the day of the 7.9 earthquake and everything was in turmoil--except for the Hotel Heritage. We received excellent service and delicious meals despite the difficult circumstances. The hotel was safe and had a generator so we had all the amenities we needed.
