April 14, 2018 Esmeralda Fenner

Bexley is a suburban city in Franklin County, Ohio, United States. The population was 13,057 at the 2010 census. Founded as a village over a hundred years ago, the city of Bexley is an old, tree-lined suburb of Columbus, the Ohio state capital, situated on the banks of Alum Creek next to Driving Park and Wolfe Park, just east of the Franklin Park Conservatory. It is horizontally bisected by the National Road (Main Street), serving as a reminder of Bexley's origins as a merger between the prestigious Bullitt Park neighborhood to the north, and the Lutheran college community of Pleasant Ridge to the south.

Graeter's Ice Cream

Handcrafted for Five Generations Since 1870. Louis and Regina Graeter started handcrafting Graeter's Ice Cream in 1870. Today, generations later, we proudly remain family owned and operated. This is made possible thanks to you, our legion of loyal fans. For a century and a half, Graeter's has remained steadfast in our commitment to making ice cream in 2 gallon French Pots one batch at a time.

Picture, if you will, the following: banana split; two scoops of icecream--one scoop of black raspberry, one scoop of chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips in it; chocolate sauce on the black raspberry ice cream, raspberry sauce on the chocolate ice cream--lots of sauce; no whipped cream (it's calories without flavor), nuts and cherries galore.

The lady here takes the word 'galore' seriously. I am now her disciple.

This place is so good that when I came there, one gentleman was using it as a venue to propose marriage to his beloved. THAT's how special this Graeter's is.

As a self proclaimed queen regrant of fine food I enjoyed my walk down olde town cobblestone streets to get to this beautiful appointed cafe. Unfortunately the breakfast/ brunch/lunch menu is disappointing. With only literally 3 things to choose from on the hot menu you better be making this trip to pick up their deserts and maybe a cup of espresso. I choose the bacon quiche which is really ham but I digress. I opted for a croissant instead of the simple salad with a side of Jam since this place is more a bakery than anything else. Do yourself a favor stick with what they are famous for. the macrons !

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams

Since August 2007, we've been a fixture in the heart of the Short North Arts District, an eclectic neighborhood of bars, galleries, antique stores, vintage clothing shops, boutiques, and restaurants. On Gallery Hop nights (the first Saturday of each month) offer the most boisterous scenes, but every day and evening we're serving trios, sundaes, and scoops at a steady pace to locals and visitors from around the world.

My family loves ice cream, as do I, so we decided to try this place. Upon entering, menu is on a big blackboard behind the counter, pretty cool. They offer free taste sampling, which was nice because they have tons of unique flavors, some of which we have never heard of. I believe my flavor was called "brown butter toffee". I asked for a sample, and was sold on it immediately! My wife and daughter had the 'salted peanut butter chocolate', which tasted amazing as well. We normally don't favor chains, but this one we will return to.This is not cheap though, spent almost $20 for three single scoop cones. But........ the quality and taste was defiantly worth it.

The shop we opened in June 2008 in the Bexley Gateway near Capital University is part of a charming storefront neighborhood that features art galleries, several destination dinner spots, and the illustrious Drexel East movie theater. Our Bexley hub, awash in natural light thanks to huge west-facing windows, is a great spot year round to enjoy a scoop, a float, and a sundae with friends and family.

A small is actually 2 scoops and they let you have 2 different flavors so be adventuresome! They had some crazy flavors that include savory ingredients, so do sample before you buy. Lots of staff, so our long line went quickly. Not much in indoor space to eat.

I went here for lunch with my niece after visiting the Botanic Garden. We had 3 crepes between us. She had a vegetarian crepe which was sort of Mediterranean and very nice. I had a Club crepe with Turkey, Ham and Bacon, which was HUGE, I mean don't order this unless you are seriously hungry. At least half of it went home. OTOH IF you are really hungry....
The star crepe was the pear and brie, drizzled with chocolate- it was warm and unctuous, and perfect!
Iced Lattes were also great on a hot day.
Would absolutely go here again- Pear and Brie crepe is a must.

I LOVE The Fox In The Snow!
It is just about perfect in every way. It looks super cool both inside and out. It manages to pull off both comfy and funky at the same time. Staff is super friendly and cat-quick.
The food is wonderful, but it is the Bakery selections that had me at hello.
Every single decadent bite of deliciousness just got better and better. I promise I would throat punch someone if they tried to come between me and my Fox In The Snow Pecan Sticky Bun! My kids and wife love this place as well, and, while they would probably not throat punch anyone, they would surely give you The Look of Disapproval if you tried to pry them off their fave Foxy treats.
Quit denying yourself one of life's little pleasures. Go to Fox In The Snow. You will LOVE it.
PLUS, What could possibly be a cooler name?

Brassica

We ate lunch at Brassica today for the first time. All I can say is that it was delicious and full of wonderful complementary flavors. It is owned by the same company that owns Northstar Cafe, one of our favorites in the area. As a previous reviewer said, it is set up like a Chipotle, but that is were the similarity stops. The food is Mediterranean. You have your choice of getting a fresh home made pita or a bowl that starts with a yummy rice & lentil mixture and dressed greens. From their you decide if you want falafel, brisket, chicken or veggies. Then you can add hummas, baba ghanoush, fried onions, three different pickled veggies, an amazing cauliflower dish, an equally amazing spicy carrot dish, an eggplant one (I didn't try this), your choice of three different pickled veggies and about 5 or six sauces. Other things on the menu that we tried were a side of falafel and fries with an amazing spice mixture on them.
I've said all of this because if there was one down side to the restaurant, it's that their on-line menu does them a disservice. It only tells you the basics, not all of these amazing options that you can have that make your meal full of amazing flavors.
They also use natural and organic products.

Stopped by for lunch and enjoyed panini sandwich but the real treat was trying to select which flavor of ice cream to finish the meal. Settled on angry peanut and rasberry chip which they graciously combined with two junior scoops. Angry peanut was very spicy. Never had anything like it. Great homemade ice cream!

Schmidt’s Sausage Haus und Restaurant

This iconic German Village restaurant is the perfect place to celebrate with family and friends. For five generations we have been serving authentic German food. Our sausage has become so famous that the Bahama Mama has been voted the official food of Columbus and the building is registered as a historic landmark. Come take a trip around our Autobahn Buffet or, if you want something other than sausage, try one of our traditional German dinners. Of course, for dessert, you can have one of our half-pound jumbo cream puffs. Stop in today and celebrate with us!

Schmidt's Restaurant is a favorite with my family. This rustic restaurant is located in historic German Village just south of downtown Columbus, Ohio. The food is authentic German and there is a buffet for lunch or order from the menu. This restaurant serves the mid-Ohio region with a truck or booth at most of the surrounding community festivals and an outdoor eating area at the Ohio State Fair - my husband's only choice when we go. Their cream puffs are legendary with seasonal flavors like pumpkin in the fall. When you eat here, it's not only for the food but for the experience. Parking can be a little difficult when the restaurant is really busy.
