Slightly upscale location where jeans are as welcome as business suits. Classy without being pretentious. Typically high service standards. Steaks, sandwiches, salmon dishes, etc. Bread with flavored butters. Highly recommended options from locals include catfish entrees with cheesecake desserts. Parking on site.

Seinfeld fans will be reminded of that little guy who sold soup if they meet the little lady here. Otherwise, others are very helpful and well meaning. However, we have tried four or five different time to get a few malted milk shakes and they are always gritty to tasteless until you get to the bottom where all the malt has settled. And then the malt is way to overpowering. We see them using the mixing machine...but nowhere near long enough. As much as I like malted milk balls those little balls of malt that make it through the straw are not good. The idea is to mix mix mix. We were so hopeful to find our favorite ice cream drink that we gave them a chance. We're not going to bother to try again on the malted milk shakes. The ice cream takes no particular personal touch so it is as good as other DQs.
It has an atmosphere of a kind in that it is a retro little place, a bit run down, on the way into a quaint historic town.

When we were hiking near the Blue Ridge Parkway, we by chanche discovered this great little sandwich shop, located in an old Victorian house. The atmosphere is lovely and all the sandwiches, we have tried, have been delicious. Also the sides, that comes with the sandwiches, have been yummy. We have been there three times now, so we have tried many. They all have funny names, which make you smile. We have dogs, so we enjoyed sitting outside on the porch. They also serve great coffee and cappuccinos. Service very nice. Highly recommend this place when visiting Bedford.

We were told about Millstone during our stay at the Cedar Post Inn Bed & Breakfast. We arrived at the B&B about dinnertime, and the restaurant was only about 10-15 minutes away. The food was excellent! Quite a find for this out-of-the-way spot. I highly recommend saving room for dessert.

As old as the hills . . . The Peaks of Otter have drawn settlers and travelers to the region for more than 8,000 years. The community whose vestiges remain to be explored today had its beginning in 1766 when Thomas Wood arrived from Pennsylvania. The wife of one of Wood’s descendants would open her home as the area’s first lodging for travelers in 1834. By the late 1800s, Peaks of Otter would be home to some 20 families, a school, a church, and a resort hotel. In the mid 1900s, the location was selected for special attention as the National Parks Service developed recreation and service areas along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Abbott Lake was constructed and the Peaks of Otter Lodge opened in 1964.Today, we invite you to be part of the future of this storied natural and cultural destination as it continues to attract visitors and travelers in the 21st century.
Thanksgiving is a huge deal at the Peaks of Otter. Our reservations were made in advance. Upon arrival we found mass confusion. Nobody seemed to manage the reservations in an orderly manner. Our wait was about 30 minutes as we watched people getting seated out of turn which was infuriating the dozens waiting our turn.
One young lady who was seating patrons came to our rescue. She took charge and made numerous families very happy in-spite of the continued front desk mix-up. Wished I had her name because she saved Thanksgiving for dozens today.
Our server was polite and friendly. The buffet was more than adequate with a large number of selections. In all honesty, once we were seated, everything was really pretty good.
I would rate this restaurant $$$$. Our bill exceeded $150 for 4 people which is on the high side considering it’s a buffet. Not sure if we’ll return or not.

This restaurant is similar to chipotle but better. He has a simple menu but you can put all kinds of stuff on your food. They sell tacos burritos and bowls. I would recommend this to anyone if they are wanting something good but don't want a sit down restaurant. We eat here all the time for lunch or a quick dinner.

Ordered takeout for a business lunch with solid success. Food clearly freshly prepared and made to order. Typical Italian options as well as hamburgers. Potato chips are homemade! Friendly service, ample portions. Good choice for casual fare. Could use some cosmetic improvements on the outside-- nothing that should turn you away.

We make beer in Bedford, Virginia. A sleepy town with secret treasures. You just discovered one of them.
Jontae served and gave us detailed information about the food, restaurant and great tips and hacks ( mix the red sauce with the green and add to the pork- YUMMY!)
Two of us so we ordered 1/2 lb each of the beef brisket and the pork-
four sides : mac&cheese, potato salad, cole slaw, and the beans-
all was good but the mac&cheese was the hands down favorite-brought the beans home for a later snack- as they were loaded with meat and very filling.
Nice sized portions- plenty for the two of us and some take home.
From what I understand the menu is kinda rotating as next month there will be collards and corn pudding on the sides list( we got samples and those greens were PERFECTION! ), sometimes oysters (they had a roast in November) in addition to the printed menu- Jontae said to check them out on Facebook to keep abreast of specials and events-
Neat atmosphere, we plan on coming back for the Friday night smoked prime rib special - oh yes, DH is the beer drinker and really liked the Munich Dunkle (I was DD so had sweet tea)
I recommend coming for a visit and giving them a try yourself- We liked everything and plan to return-
