My family and I ate lunch here. They had buffet and it looked great but we decided to order off the menu. 2 of us had fish and one had hamburger steak. And a chicken fried steak. It was all very good I will stop here again when in town.

This is a VERY popular restaurant in Bastrop. It's known for its great atmosphere and food. My family and I eat here quite often. My kids get the grilled chicken Miranda, I get either the kimballs special or fajita chicken salad and the Hubs gets the fajita chicken nachos or the chicken chimichanga...all of them which are delicious!!

Small diner on the town square, sign says in business I think since 1959.
Good home style food with daily specials, long hours, and fast friendly service.
A little odd to have bathrooms behind the restaurant but they were clean if old.
Would definitely go back

I would definitely have Johnny's Pizza at the top of the list in Bastrop. I noticed it wasn't in the top five and that's a mistake. Johnny's has been in bastrop for years and they are still going strong!! I also noticed that the picture of Johnny's pizza on trip advisor is not the same building. The building at bastrop is much nicer. They've got great pizza and I visit them often. Im not saying they're perfect every time, but 90% of the time you'll get a great pizza. Try the bread sticks and salad bar.

Slayden's has been a fixture in Bastrop for decades for a reason. Their food is fantastic. You really can't go wrong with anything that you choose on the menu from the barbecue to the burger. The locals can't get enough of their beans (request their new recipe version) and potato salad. Be sure to save room for their famous pie. It is amazing.

Good food! They also have good fried catfish! Reasonably priced. They no longer have brisket. Open Tuesday through Saturday . They stay busy. It's best to call ahead! We usually order our food to go, they have a small dining area, the building used to be a Dominos pizza many years ago . They have a drive thru. Friendly local people.

Visiting family in Bastrop, we decided to have a quick lunch and use take out. It seemed to be unusually busy, but we ordered any way, had to substitute because they were out of spicy rolls, and wait as well on the shrimp because they had "behind' in the orders. The food was good, service ok, but not up to the service we have had in other Popeye's around the south.
