New to Wisconsin, we like to take day trips around the state and find fun places. We struck gold with happening through Baraboo, and the rich vein ran right to the Little Village Cafe. Great atmosphere, great history, great service, great menu and great food.
I could go on and on, but ... why! The Little Village Cafe awaits you! Get over there, and watch for us. We will return!

Great, warm, inviting coffee shop that serves hot chocolate, tea, and apple cider as well! Also has lots of baked goods and other things for sale. They took my own personal travel mug to put my drink in so I didn't have to use a disposable one. Big thumbs up. They close early on the weekends though fyi!

The donuts are DELISH , the bagels large and only $1! The fresh bread is ahhhmazing... We almost passed this shop thinking it wasn't open, but it was and glad we stopped. Just wish hey had a better selection of coffee's, but coming from a large city it's something that's personal I'm sure. Easy access and there is seating inside as well. Prices are decent. Friendly staff.

The Village Booksmith in downtown Baraboo is not a restaurant and should be moved to another category. They do serve coffee, cocoa, various flavored waters, and cookies, but that's it. The Booksmith, as we locals call it, is a fabulous used book store owned by a charming and intelligent woman, who has single-handedly improved the cultural life of our community by holding frequent special events that range from poetry slams, to trivia quizzes, to potluck dinners, to plays, to musical performances...you get the idea. Every week there is something interesting and stimulating to do at her store. She also knows what she's doing book-wise and carries tons of gently-used books in every genre. If you're visiting Baraboo, stop in. You won't be disappointed.

I was in the area for business. Everything was closed for the winter that trip advisor recommended except this place.
Lucky us. Beautiful space on the river. Great food selection, friendly service. I had chili and a Cajun flat bread. Don't think I've ever had better. On the way bought a bottle of Vodka and Bourbon. They are a Distillery too. I've tried the Bourbon already, really smooth. This is a summer time area, I imagine in the summer you will have to wait. They have outdoor seating on the river too.

The rest room was spotless and smelled fresh and clean-a very good sign. The yogurt is self serve, you just pick up a bowl and start filling it. Lots of flavors and toppings to choose for. Very comfortable and colorful spoons to eat it with too. YUM!!! If in Baraboo, stop in and try it.

I went there in a group. Never go on the weekend. No parking to start with. Had to wait to park. Walked in past bar in a narrow hallway with people sitting with knees in the way. Asked where my party was...dont know, dont know. Finally what was apparently the hostess said on patio. Made my way through a packed dinning area, avoiding people and wait staff to the patio. We had booked reservations, but apparently it doesnt matter because Joses booked two more groups. We were bunched up into those. Tables were crammed into each other so if you werent careful, you bumped someone behind. Plus a table blocked the fire exit, violation plus.
It seemed like there were no assigned wait staff. There were several but they just wandered around. Someone finally came to take my order. When it came to the food being ready, the wait staff stood in the aisle and yelled out what they had so guests had to yell, here. I realized what the waiter had served me was wrong and he came back and grabbed it and yelled again. I finally got mine. The person next to me had to flag someone to get the rest of his order.
Then to add to the bedlam, a few wait staff came ploughing past to sing a 60 second serenade to a group behind us. More bumping and confusion. This occurred three times. Apparently birthdays.
When dishes were empty, no one picked them up, even though wait staff went past multiple times. When the party behind left, wait staff moved tables, stacked dishes and left them sitting on the tables. I saw when we left tables full of dirty dishes. By the time we left, the bulk of customers were gone, wait staff were sitting but dishes remained.
Yes their food is good. Prices are high, but quantity is way too much for some. The person next to me got enough food to feed 3 people.
I will never set foot in Joses again. The person sitting next to me said no way leaving a tip since it appeared no wait staff cared to earn one.

First of all.... this place is beautiful. The inside is full of wooden masterpieces with comfy cozy charm. Service was great and very efficient! The food was cooked to our liking with me having a simple omelet breakfast and my husband indulging in their smoked pulled pork mac and cheese. He is still eating that three days later and still LOVING every bite. Their homemade bread is some of the best I've had. The pie was just ok to me.. but I'll give it another try our next time in ;)
This place is a real winner!

Fully restored 1954 diner serving gourmet breakfasts.
When you find a place where people are fighting to get in line, it's worth checking out. Great menu choices, fresh bakery made in the back, outstanding service, cheerful ambience. This is the place you see when you look up "diner" in the dictionary!

I hate to say that this restaurant is living on a reputation. The nachos are pretty lame with fake nacho cheese sauce. Basically the same cheese you can get at a convenience store. Paid for extra cheese on my sandwich, but never got it. The tab beer that was ordered was extremely flat. I highly doubt we'll be back.
