I often pop in for coffee and a cake while cycling the Deeside way.
I ask for an extra strong, extra hot latte and it’s alway delicious. All the home baking is wonderful but I particularly love the raspberry Bakewell muffins, mouthwatering!
This prices for coffee and cake are extremely reasonably too.
The staff are all wonderful Gillian in particular has a fabulous manner with the customers.
They have ample Seating and usually serve coffee and snacks in the conservatory.
The Milton is in a beautiful setting with ample parking

This impressive granite Georgian mansion is everything you'd hope to find in a genuine Scottish Country House - indulgence, exclusivity, luxury, views, privacy, open fires, antiques and a Michelin recommended restaurant. The Big Fish Bar has been created from an antique four-poster bed and carries a large selection of Whiskies, Gins, Ports and Liqueurs. The Oval Dining room retains the original flock-velvet wall covering and is decorated in traditional formal style with all the sense of occasion and enjoyment that this implies, and the wood-panelled Sitting Room allows commanding views of the landscaped grounds and countryside beyond. The staff are professional and the Scottish menus are created by ex Skibo Castle chef Ethan Forsyth and his team using the best of ingredients foraged in the grounds and from the neighbouring estates and presented with a modern spirit.

Country House Hotel & Restaurant. Tor Na Coille is a 4 star, family-owned & run Victorian Country House Hotel, located at the western edge of the town of Banchory, on picturesque Royal Deeside. Set in acres of wooded grounds, this magnificent granite building enjoys an elevated position with panoramic views over the surrounding hillside. The 25 individually styled en-suite bedrooms each have their own character and distinct charm. Enhanced by the period furniture and unique room shapes, the majority of them enjoy views of the grounds and surrounding countryside. Each Classic, Deluxe and Master room offers something that makes it unique, whether it’s the four poster, sleigh bed, rolltop bath, spectacular fireplace, or just the sheer size.
An underwhelming lunch. Huge portions of nicely presented food. We were directed to a table beside a window. The chairs seemed rather odd, as though they were reclineing. Although there were very few other guests, the Carpet beneath our table was covered in crumbs.

We had an early tea before a 6.00pm presentation from V&A Dundee. There was an excited buzz in the restaurant. We have eaten here twice and both times the food was excellent. Local produce, freshly prepared with interesting twists. We had spicy jack fruit stew with side salads. My friend had a wonderful spicy beetroot, parsnip and apple soup. This came with a selection of different breads and butter. What a treat. The only negative was the turmeric latte that had a massive lump of turmeric at the bottom and was almost undrinkable. A light hand is needed with turmeric. When we mentioned this we were told, ‘it depends who makes it’.

Family run Farm Shop and Tea Room offering the very best home made meals and cakes, using local and seasonal produce. Set in the beautiful Finzean valley in Royal Deeside, the shop has stunning views of the Estate and beyond. The shop sells a wide range of grocery items from lovely fresh vegetables, home reared beef, Finzean venison & game (seasonal), ready made meals & soups, local artisan cheeses, cured meat, homemade preserves and much much more! The walls display stunning Scottish artists work (many local) as well as interesting & thoughtful gifts and books for all ages. Our hampers are very popular and the contents are entirely as you choose them to be.
This place is always busy, so we deliberately went late for lunch, but it was still very busy, and we'd to wait for a table with a view of Clach na Ben (mountain across the glen.)
The menu is extensive, and we had fantastic soup (pheasant broth) with bacon rolls (3 rashers each!!!) Service was ok; not up to the standard of the food.

The Cowshed is a family owned and managed business. Our philosophy is straightforward: "choose local seasonal ingredients carefully and cook them as simply as possible. Whenever possible we source local ingredients, thus supporting the Aberdeenshire community and providing a showcase for quality, fresh and seasonal Scottish produce. Since opening in 2010, the Cowshed has changed its style of food and service. We now offer a larger and simpler food menu which includes a mix of customer favourites, traditional Scottish dishes and daily specials, sandwiches, paninis, coffee/tea, cakes and bakes. Something for everyone to enjoy throughout the day. As a proud member of the Scotch Beef Club, we serve Scotch Beef PGI. With traceability and unique assurance which begins on the farm of birth, Scotch Beef is high on quality and high on taste.
We took ourselves over to the cow shed on a recommendation. We went to the fish and chips take away. It was unmistakably the best we’ve had in years! Obviously not within walking distance which is a downside but we had a hire car and can warmly recommend getting out there. My mouth is watering just thinking of the food! We will be back!

Had an excellent meal in Derbar recently when visiting Banchory. Lovely inside once you've gone up the stairs as the main access is up stairs between shops. We were welcomed and greeted by friendly staff and the manager/owner.
Ordered starters and mains and everything we ordered was of high quality and full of flavour. Staff were relaxed and nothing was rushed as they made sure we were satisfied with meals.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend visiting here if you are in the area, you will not be disappointed.
