So many things have changed over the past 53 years.
Howevee Jone's ice cream us not one of those.
Everything about it is the same. The smell, the tate and the location.
The best black cherry ice cream any where in the world. And trust me I've tried it everywhere!
On a recent trip to michigan I had to stop, much as we did every weekend if my childhood driving up to Traverse city. I certain was not disapointed. Thank you Jone's. For just a few mins I was sent back in time to a special place that my Dad took me every sat.

Menu was surprisingly varied and had upscale choices. We stopped in for an early lunch and it got quite busy; felt like front and back of the house were caught unprepared.
Walleye was well prepared and good. Burgers were extremely over cooked. Onion rings and homemade chips were good.

Lots of tables but no table service, Sat for about five minutes before figuring that out, even though we were greeted by the guy at the order counter. Walked up and ordered fairly efficient and ordered our drinks. Group of five and the orders came out sporadically a five minute wait from the first to the last. Ordered subs without tomatoes and of course they came with tomatoes. Never asked what kind of dressing we wanted on the s ( menu says BBQ, Mayo or dressing (Italian as it tuns out) they opted for the Italian dressing which would be second on a normal sandwich. If you forgot to ask please ask!! The sandwiches came with onions although they listed that as an option ( never ordered)
Salad was pretty standard but it is hard to screw up ham, lettuce and cheese as a "Chef's salad"
The calzones were classified as good/ nothing special in the two that were had.
Vegetables were raw .
Would we go back . . NOPE!

Such a missed opportunity! Quaint old cabin overlooking the lake, what's not to like? The food is terrible, wait staff is horrible. The place is filthy and you don't even want to eat your food looking at the servers, bus staff and kitchen help. The food is all processed frozen type and nothing home made or created.several visits there, always the same. We try to give local spots business and want them to succeed but this owner doesn't seem to care or get it. What a waste! Could be great!

We decided to stop by this ice cream spot for the first time in a couple years. We love ice cream, and the previous employees were often were surprised by the amounts we can consume. The new owners have this covered, and our large chocolate dipped in chocolate cone was huge! It tasted great - the chocolate has a delicious hint of mocha or dutch chocolate flavor. We'll be back again soon.

This place is a little out of the way, but well worth the trip. I first had them when they catered a friend's rehearsal dinner and just ate at their cafe for the first time this weekend. It is more of a food stand than cafe, but they have outdoor seating on the river. I would eat their gyro's sitting in my car if I had to--we will definitely be making a return trip this summer. We also had their onion rings and curly fries, both were good but nothing special-- the main draw is the delicious gyros!

Got the special -- ribs, baked beans, potato salad for 10 bucks. On the plus side, the portions were huge, and the food edible. But it was very average. The ribs had been boiled and then the tomato barbecue sauce slathered on, when it would have been nice to have them grilled or oven baked so the flavor cooks in. baked beans also pretty watery, everything needed salt and flavoring. Service is a bit capricious here, can be very slow at times.

Subway is the best for breakfast, lunch or dinner. You can't go wrong with subway when you are traveling. I always love the chicken teriyaki.

The Friday night fish fry is all you can eat, It takes a long time to get your food but worth the wait. They have specials each night but I like the fish. seating is limited so go early.
