Tucked away behind the piazza, next to the Asti Theatre, in a picturesque Asti laneway is Tacabanda (The Band Strikes Up). Chef Antonio produces delicious renditions of the local Piedmonte specialties (I tried the Strawberry & Nettle risotto) and waiter Niccolo was attentive and very helpful with suggestion for matching wine by the glass with our meals. My top tip? Save room for dessert! The Lavender ice cream with honey was to die for and my dining companions very generously shared a taste of their equally fabulous sweets. All heavenly!!

We stayed at the Rotarius B&B across the street and were told if we wanted very good food and a chill, low-key atmosphere that we should go to Osteria del Diavolo. We made a 7:45 reservation and were the first to arrive for dinner (it was a Tuesday). That made me a bit nervous but my mind was soon changed as they brought us something from the house- these amazing kind of fried chips made from chick pea flour, lightly seasoned with salt and rosemary. On the side was a local honey that you could spoon over the chips for a savory/sweet combination that made my tastebuds beg for more! And we didn't even order that!!! I wanted to go back for more but all that we orders was amazing! We had some soup, pasta, seafood, dessert -- All Amazing. Highly recommended! Upon leaving you can also buy the local honey and jam if you so desire. Bon apetito!

My husband and I had a delicious and thoroughly unique dining experience here on a recent trip to Italy. Not only do they have all the best tradiational Piemontese dishes but also some unique ones that apparently are medieval recipes. There is no written menu or wine list but a trust vote on the recommendations of the owner/hostess of the restaurant (who grows some of the produce used in the restaurant) on both food and wine served us very well. I look forward to going back!

Excellent Food, The right compromise between local tradition and a bit of experimentation. Nice Location in an old, well restored Train Station. Service is pleasant and fast enough. They have always proper and adequate wine suggestions, both form the local territory and outside the region. I like to choose my wine, but in this restaurant I always like to hear for a new combination.
I'm going there, when not traveling, almost twice a month.
Definitively, a worm suggestion.

'700 Country house with surrounding park, nestled in the green hills of Asti. Near the highway exit, the chef offers different dishes for dinners, cerimonies and events. Our cooking is based on rivisited Piedmont dishes and fish menu. The house can accomodate 180 guests, 140 in a large living room and 40 in 2 romantic rooms with fireplace. Outdoor summer. Closed Wednesdays.

Is possible to buy local wine in our cellar situated under the restaurant. We are also specalised in gluten free meals.
I wanted to eat some traditional food, so the waiter explained the whole menu for me because it was written in italian. He recommended some really exiting dishes with rabbit, pork, beef, wild boar, and paired it with some local wine. The service was perfect, food was excellent. Thumbs up for this place!

Managed to get a table by heading there early and was well rewarded. The food selections are short, but there's something for everyone whether you're vegetarian, a meat eater or prefer fish. I had some fantastic local pasta, perfectly cooked veal and went with a cheese selection for dessert. For wine lovers, particularly those interested in natural or biodynamic wines this is a great option. I managed to get through a number of different ones by the glass, thanks to their very helpful sommelier. They even sell wines from their small shop so it's a great opportunity to buy the wines you tasted earlier. Really can't say enough about what a lovely evening I had.

Great selection of own and other beers on tap. Unfortunately the tap beers were so good and numerous so we could not start on the very extensive bottle selection. Use the knowledge of the owner to understand and appreciate the beers that you did not...MoreThank you very much for your visite. Full rotation about taps and bottles are our success whatever without your mouth, probably we are nothing. See you soon and best regards. Enzo
