Aranyaprathet (Thai: อรัญประเทศ) is a town (thesaban mueang) in Sa Kaeo Province in eastern Thailand . It covers the entire tambon of Aranyaprathet, in Aranyaprathet District. As of 2005, the town has 16,937 inhabitants. It is located just 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from the border with Cambodia; the town of Poipet is on the other side of the border. On the Thai side of the border is the huge Rongkluea market. Cambodian people cross the border daily with pushcarts and scooters with side cars loaded with their products. A significant part of the trade is in second hand clothes. Just over the border on the Cambodian side there are casinos. These are visited by many Thai people because gambling is prohibited in Thailand. Special free buses run between Bangkok and these casinos. Cambodians themselves are not allowed to gamble in these border casinos.

As other reviwers already wrote: good Thai & some "western" cuisine.
In Aranyaprathet for me the best restaurant. The owner remembers my preferencies of food & beer. Moderate price, all perfect. I come often with business partners, to the Thip Kitchen and so far always a good experience. Whatever I got from the Thip Kitchen, always good.

Ton Kao is the in-hour restaurant of Aran Mermaid Hotel, Aranyaprathet. On our second day we were somewhat weary, so decided to give Ton Kao a go, rather than drive around town looking for another restaurant.
We were disappointed. The restaurant is over brightly lit, with tables and chairs arranged in regimental order.
This night the only option was a buffet, which comprised a mundane selection of Thai dishes that were mediocre at best. They included rice and fried rice, various pork and chicken curries, a stir fried fish dish, a bland soup of pork balls, tofu and vegetables, and some stir fried chicken. There was also a modest offering of fruit, limited to water melon, pineapple and papaya.
To cap it all, a large tour of visiting Thais had plugged into the restaurants karaoke and were blasting the place at sixty thousand decibels.
If you stay at Aran Mermaid hotel take a tip. There are many other restaurants within walking distance where you can enjoy an authentic and quiet Thai dinner.

Yai Taam is considered one of the most popular restaurants in Aranyaprathet and its walls are covered with literally hundreds of framed photographs of the stars, politicians, notaries, and local dignitaries that have dined here over the years.
I am very familiar with Vietnamese food and in fact was in Vietnam for 10-days of tongue tasting delights just a few weeks ago.
So I left Yai Taam feeling a little let down. It was hard to pin point, but the food just lacked the zip and zing of authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
There were three of us and we accepted the waitresses recommendation on the set menu at 400THB. This included a plate of deep fried Vietnamese spring rolls and fresh spring rolls, a plate of fried spiced tofu, a plate of pork slices with cold rice noodles, a rice pasta dish with vegetables, a crispy fried Vietnamese rice pancake and a plate of pork balls with vegetables, condiments, salad and rice paper to wrap them in.
For a total bill of 480THB, which included a bottle of Singha beer, you could not complain about the price.
But I think next time I will order a la carte and make my own selection of dishes.

We stayed at the adjacent hotel, Tournesol, on our way from Cambodia to Bangkok and enjoyed three meals at this restaurant. We had lunch and dinner the first night, and an included breakfast the following day. The restaurant is brand new and has a wonderfully inviting atmosphere. All of the dishes we tried were very tasty and well prepared. The rates were also quite reasonable. The menu was large enough that we had no problem at all finding things to eat for both lunch and dinner. I would definitely eat here again if in the area!

To be honest, the food is nice, when they finally get around to serving the food. The Food service is very slow and the 3 times, I have been there, we never got complete service. I have given up and would not recommend it

We arrived in Aranyaprathet after a long drive, checked into a hotel, had a shower and thought of looking for somewhere to eat. We checked out TripAdvisor and decided on Yai Taam Vietnamese Restaurant, which was fairly close to our hotel.
We arrived there about 7.45 p.m., by which time it was already closed.
But we were in luck. Just 100 meters back from Yai Taam on the entrance to Soi Baan Yuan from Mitsamphan Road, we saw another Vietnamese restaurant that was open, Je Rang.
Je Rang has a limited menu of 10 Vietnamese favourites, but that suited us fine. We had Vietnamese vegetarian spring rolls, crispy fried chicken wings, and small Vietnamese sausage balls. The sausage is served with a plate of salad comprising lettuce, Vietnamese mint, coriander and wet rice paper. You also get a dish of other condiments, including sliced garlic, small bird's eye chili, diced cucumber, and thinly sliced pineapple. The idea is that you take a sheet of rice paper, cut off a piece of sausage, then add salad and other ingredients to create your own little rice paper sausage roll.
The three dishes came with their own dipping sauces, chili, peanut and sweet chili, but I used which ever one took my fancy.
With a large bottle of Leo beer and one bottle of soft drink, the bill came to Baht 440 - a very reasonable price for a tasty, freshly cooked light dinner.
Incidentally, we were the last customers and the moment we paid the bill the staff started closing up. People must eat early in Aranyaprather!
