Romance is the lifeblood of Annecy, a town in the Rhone-Alpes region of southeast France that’s replete with castles and cathedrals and softly curving architecture. Stroll hand in hand with your paramour across Pont des Amours (the lover’s bridge) before taking in the Imperial Palace and the baroque Cathedral of Saint-Pierre. A walk down the Rue Royale will be rewarded with prime shopping, dining and people-watching, especially at the fountain of Saint Jean.

Terrific food (including the most perfect piece of fish I've ever eaten, an inventive fava and egg appetizer, and to die for strawberry rhubarb desert with melt in your mouth salts butter sables). Attentive and genuinely friendly service. Lovely calm atmosphere. This was a highlight of our trip.

Settled since 1997, Sophie and Patrice CAVORET knew how to make of this place a well known greedy place of the Annéciens. Proud of their experience in gourmet restaurants, they knew how to adapt this knowledge to their atmosphere "Bistro". Sophie welcomes with happiness and smile and will know how to satisfy the amateurs of wines. To be of use to you a cooking of season in fresh products selected with the biggest care, the carte is 4 times changed a year. You will find a colored, flavourful cooking there, in the right cookings. In lunch, a menu of today's special (entrance, fish or meat and choice of dessert) is proposed to you. In dinner, a menu "Return of Market" various every day and a different "Menu-Carte" at every season.
We had a superb meal at Le Bistro du Rhone last evening, beginning with the warm greeting by the owner, Sophie. While awaiting our first course, were treated to amuses bouches , first a rillette de porc, followed by a salmon tartare. Our shrimp tempura...MoreThank you so much for this so kind review ! All our team had a real pleasure to welcoming you ! We are waiting for the pleasure to see you again at LE BISTRO DU RHONE !

We just loved this restaurant!!
We had the menu where the chef cooks what he wants for you - simply each course was a delight! They were nice enough to substitute the meat course for me with fish, but my husband had the meat. We both enjoyed every thing that was served - the food is innovative, beautiful and oh so delicious!!
I don't want to show off but we have eaten in some of the top restaurants in Europe, and further afield, and just when you think there is nothing new that is going to come along now this restaurant is a revelation! I even went into the kitchen to meet the charming chef to tell him how much we enjoyed our supper!
If you go to Annercy then eat here - I don't know how anyone could be disappointed. Book early as it is a tiny place. Can't wait to go back.

Restaurant Une Autre Histoire is open for Tuesday diner and from Wensday to Saturday for lunch and diner. Thanks
Set menu as it was a busy weekend so no choice for vegetarians and haters of foie gras but a main of delicious sea bream made up for this! The dessert was nice and the restaurant kindly added a birthday twist for my daughter turning 7 that day!
The ambience was quiet and relaxed and the staff were not overly warm but polite.

This is a café with a casual, hip vibe run by three friends, one of whom was taking all orders and serving tables the night we visited for dinner. He was a very friendly host, taking time to speak to every guest, and very passionate about their food. We ordered a vegetarian burger with a soya patty and sprouts (lip-smacking gravy sauce), with a portion of potato fries. The portion was large, freshly prepared and absolutely delicious. Annecy is a one of the friendliest towns in France, and L’Heure Tourne a great ambassador of its congenial hospitality, apart from offering modestly priced, delicious fare.

The place looks borderline tacky with a theme of mobsters as part of its logo. But don't let that discount the actual deliciousness of their pizza. The two of us shared one of their pizzas - it came with sliced beef and was marked as one of their popular ones (I forgot the name). It was perfect and filling, definitely high quality ingredients and great service.

Our dinner here was enjoyable and reasonable value for money - we each had a 3 course set menu that had choice of 2 entree and 2 mains and choice of any dessert from the regular menu, with coffee included. There was also an amuse bouche provided. There are two different set menus to choose from - Between 30-40 euro each. Drinks are extra. They have a few wines by the glass and some half bottles available. There is an a la carte menu also available.
The night we went they had just started serving a new menu and hadn't got it translated to English yet. Our French is poor, but the waiter was very helpful in translating for us and in answering questions.
The food was modern French and inventive (maybe a little too much at times?). We enjoyed it. The cold pea soup was delicious and the mint ice-cream in it was interesting. I recommend the popcorn ice cream dessert.
This place is a little out of the main village but only maybe 10 minutes walk so don't let that put you off. It's in a nice quiet area.

This is a great concept!
Get a card, preload it with at least €10, grab a glass then pull your own beer!
There is a great selection of drinks, not just beer.
No problems if it's your first visit as the guy in charge spoke perfect English.
Place your card on the reader, pour as much drink as you want then when you finish, clean the glass (each font has a little 'tap' in front of it) and start again.
You can share one card between any number of people.
The screens tell you how much cash you have remaining and just stops dispensing when you run out of cash.
It can get busy at times but when I went at around 5pm on a weekday, it was quiet

A friendly and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a fresh and tasty meal. Enjoy our large salads, wholemeal bread toasts, home-made desserts... All our specialities are made out of fresh and local products.
Last dinner in France and finally we were able to have a simple and tasty and satisfying meal. The ambiance was calm and not overcrowded, the cook and the server were naturally kind and caring. The food was just delicious and we ate till the last bit. Top quality at reasonable price. I really recommend this place! Desserts also are good especially the cake with pears and roasted almonds!

Definitely a rare find. The couple that runs this jewel of a place gets it absolutely right. Imaginative dishes of flawless quality, good wines, genial service... comfortably intimate, pleasantly informal setting. Reserve in advance! Many people want to eat here... a few lucky ones will.
