Roll on over to the Alta rocks to check out the UNESCO World Heritage Site carvings. There are thousands of these fascinating archaeological remains, which detail images of animals, and scenes of hunter/gatherer life. Alta is also home to the northernmost ice hotel in Europe, an utterly majestic masterpiece replete with ice chandeliers, chairs and even beds.

Restaurant Haldde is a part of Thon Hotel Vica located in the old part of Alta, Bossekop close to the Altafjord. It used to be an old farm and the decor can be seen throughout the hotel. The restaurant serves local food made from entirely in our own kitchen with produce from northern Norway. Our specialities are grilled stockfish, reindeer steak, King Crab and desserts made from local berries. We serve all drinks and have a good choice of wine and beers to complement the food. Welcome!
The service and advice in the choice of menu was good. And since it is one of the few good restaurents in Alta, it can only be recommended. The food was well cooked and there was plenty of it.

The restaurant Laksestua (salmon hut) has always been well known for its special architecture, assembling the shape of a Sami lavvo and its pleasant atmosphere. Sorrisniva is in the middle of nature’s larder: the river, the fjord and the plateau offer excellent raw materials for the Chef to turn into delicious dishes. The kitchen follows the food calendar, ensuring the guest have meals appropriate to the season they are in at all time. The restaurant has become one of Finnmark`s best, and our chef Johnny Trasti was rewarded «best chef of the year 2009» in Norway. The restaurant is open for larger groups throghout the year and for a la carte from January to April.
Fantastic setting by the Alta river. After a run up the river in a wooden long boat, seeing all the fishing people on the banks of this very fast running river, trying to Catch a prized Salmon, we enjoyed reindeer stew with fresh crusty bread, a glass of wine, all in the beautiful timber hotel building. They have an ice hotel built on site in winter, with a bar and 16 rooms to sleep in, all of ice

The food was very nice and there was an option to make dishes vegetarian which I really enjoyed. The food itself was very nice and the portions were good. It was expensive but not as expensive as other restaurants in the country/town. The service was very slow even though at least 2 waitresses were working and only 3 or 4 tables were full. We had to walk back to the reception and ring the bell to get their attention. If they improve this, the restaurant is very good.

Restaurant Alta is the restaurant of Rica Hotel Alta. It has a la carte meny with arctic and local food on the meny. It is open every day.
The buffet has a selection of typical arctic and local food. The food was fresh, good quality and served by friendly and efficient staff. The salad bar was well stocked with fresh vegetables. Fresh watermelons, cantaloupes, cloud berries, strawberries, apples, grapefruit and oranges were available. There was a wide variety of desserts - chocolate brownies and macaroons were superb rounded off by English tea, fruit teas and coffee. Expensive like all restaurants in Norway but commendable quality.

And we didint get anything. We went to this chinese restaurant. It looked good and it was half full so it must be good. Hmm. There is nothing to say about the food. It was...plaah. service was plaah. No smiles no asking how we liked food no nothing. So we filled our pellyes and went away. So in this place is nothing special. Sorry. We wont come back.

We had a great dinner in this restaurant with my family. The beef was very delicious and my son liked his pasta portion. The ribs portion was huge. My husband couldn't eat the whole portion. I really recommend the churros as dessert. It was also a big portion for one person. Seemed to be quite popular restaurant, I recommend the table reservation in busy evenings and for groups.

Very good food, as always. However, I think they've raised their prices considerably due to their success. Even if the food is great, they are on the brink of what price is acceptable for food served on cardboard plates.

There was four of us and we ate here twice . On both occasions we found the food to be good value . The burgers are very good , I had a 200gr with cheese and bacon and it matched most of the better burgers I have had. The chips were nicely cooked too . Plenty of sauces on hand to go with it . My partner had the fried chicken and chips with a little salad , this was what you would expect and very filling . At around 12£ to 15£ each this bistro offers good value food at fair prices ( for Norway ) and very pleasant service . There is a very wide choice on the menu , salads , pizza , kebab etc . We did come again and we would do so again .
