Aktau (Kazakh: Ақтау, Aqtaý) is a city in Kazakhstan, located on the east bank of the Caspian Sea. Its current name means "white mountain" in Kazakh, which may be due to its cliffs that overlook the Caspian. From 1964 to 1991 city was known as Shevchenko (Russian: Шевченко, Kazakh: S'evc'enko). Its former name was given due to the eponymous Ukrainian poet's period of exile in the area. It is located on the Mangyshlak Peninsula and is the capital of Mangystau Region.

The old name don't exist more , now is called Bukowsky and real , it cannot suggest for food! From chips , to meat dishes , quality level poor.
Atmosphere , as furnishing and staff remain the same but now , just for drink a beer and not more. Nothing to continue the story of an old tradition good drink and eat place!!

Lido is a nice place. I was there twice, first time just stopping for a beer when sightseeing, another in the evening for a dinner with a group of fellow travellers. Both times a good experience. It is an open Terrace, breezy, with a view to the Caspian Sea, very pleasant. No English menu, but some English spoken staff. Good service. For dinner, which we had in a group of ca 10 persons, we ordered local grilled meats and salads with Georgian wine and cold beer – everything was very good. Please be aware that on weekend nights there may be parties or discos with loud music etc. I really liked it.

Excellent position and friendly/young atmosphere for this called Italian restaurant where Italian cousin don't have any honor place , except for a tentative on pizza! but advisable for other mix of food typology as Chinese , Eastern Europe and also some Lebanon dishes, the last not comparable with homeland.
Good choice of appetizers and meat main course. Satisfactory choice of wines (Georgia) and beers included draft.
Price not cheaper but in compliance with range!

I am happy to announce I have found the first cheesecake in Kazakhstan I really liked! You can either pick it to go at the baked goods stand or enjoy at the cafe.
In general, I quite enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at Costa's. I came to here to work on my computer on a week day and the cafe was almost empty. The staff members were very nice and checked on me regularly but not too often. The food was quite good and the prices adequate compared to some other Aktau restaurants.
A little tip: when ordering a salad, I'd recommend ordering dressing on the side - too generous for my taste!

The big choice on different menu , open a assorted way to found a satisfactory food !
Good quality of ingredients , with special emphasis on soup and vegetables dishes.
Satisfactory level of Italian specialties as pizza , good beers and not so interesting list of wines compared with level of cousin.

Every city in the former Soviet Union has at least one Georgian restaurant. Although it produced Josef Stalin and Lavrenti Beria, Georgia is also noted for its wines and wonderful produce and its cooking, which is far better than most of the stodgy Slavic alternatives. Favored ingredients include walnuts and pomegranate. I have had lunch here several times, though the food is a bit heavy for midday (or, alternatively, everything looks so good you end up ordering more than you planned). My last visit was for dinner with my wife, who was visiting. The owner - a Georgian - personally came to answer questions and take our order. We ended up with khachapuri, a kind of layered flatbread stuffed with cheese; a salad of tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers with a sort of walnut pesto sauce; a vegetable assortment consisting of slices of cooked eggplant and bell peppers with a walnut paste on top, together with little balls of red beets mashed up with other ingredients (walnuts?) and similar patties of spinach; a hot dish of chicken on the bone in a smetana (sour cream) sauce; and another hot dish of sizzling hot Georgian pork sausage. All delicious. Far more food than we could possibly consume in one sitting. Although doggy bags are not common here, they very nicely packed up what we couldn't eat. Like many restaurants here, this place has a large dining room with speakers and flashing lights and a bar, which may turn into a dance scene later in the evening, but there is also a closed-in porch area overlooking the sea, which is far more pleasant and tranquil. This is also the smoking section, but the windows do open.
Definitely not the place for those with nut allergies, but highly recommended for most others. It is also a short walk from the Renaissance Hotel. It is not the cheapest place in town: our meal, including drinks and service, set me back about T14,000, or a little over $75.

Decided to visit Assorti because recommended by hotel reception desk. I ordered a simple food (lamb schachlik) and went to shore to admire sunset. When I came back after a while my food was not ready yet. I got the food after another hour, luke-warm and paid twice as I paid in Guns&Roses. My colleagues have complain because their order was not made good, so we got a free bowl of tea and service was reduced from our bills. Nice.

Huge selection of local barbeques (schachliky), attentive service. We waited little bit longer for our order because takeaways are prioritized - so ask the waitress how long you should wait for your order.
Interior fashioned like mid 80' in Soviet Union public lunch room. Toilets situated in a cubicle situated in the middle of the dining room.
Rather expensive if compared with other dinning places in Aktau.

I enjoyed several delicious cappuccinos in La Tartine. This coffee shop has a western feel in an eastern place. It is situated in the Oasis building in Microdistrict 15. Lovely croissants and plenty of other pastry to choose from. The perfect place for breakfast, lunch or tea but not everything advertised on the menu is available. Good atmosphere though; I will be back.

Last night we had a lovely dinner in Karvon. This Uzbek restaurant oozes hospitality and delicious traditional food. There is live music in the evening, a dance floor, great service and good value. Look no further for a great night out in Aktau.
