It is the administrative center of Zakarpattia Oblast (region), as well as the administrative center of the surrounding Uzhhorod Raion (district) within the oblast. The city itself is also designated as city of oblast significance, a status equivalent to that of a raion, and does not belong to Uzhhorod Raion. Population: 115,163 (2016 est.).

Very enjoyable dining experience. Clean, modern restaurant, pleasant decor. Outdoor dining available (in season!) We enjoyed a delicious grilled salmon steak and a whole trout, both were perfectly cooked, the bograch was also delicious. There is a wide menu selection. The serving staff was pleasant and attentive.

Dawno nie widziaÅem tak dobrego kelnera, a jeżdÅ¼Ä po caÅej Ukrainie i recenzuje restauracje różnych regionów. Barman robiÅ bardzo dobre drinki. Chociaż nie sÅucham muzyki klubowej to leciaÅa tutaj Åwietna muzyka. W nazwie jest Club, ale przed wieczorem jest bardzo spokojnie, dużo miejsca na zewnÄ trz, sporo zieleni. To idealne miejsce, żeby trochÄ odetchnÄ Ä. Co do jedzenia, to krótka karta wskazuje, że musi byÄ dobrze. Jest bardzo dobrze. Cosy cafe not far from Uzhgorod city centre. The owner - Jurij - is very nice and educated guy, he can speak many languages and he cares a lot about his guest and restaurants. Interior of cafe is very interesting, looks like museum. They have good beet on the tap, good coffee and also tasty traditional Transcarpathian dishes.

I ate at Vertep twice: the menu is surprisingly broad for a small, simple place, and prices are very reasonable. Salads tasted fresh, the "Carrathian Delicacy" pork dish was hearty with lots of pork, potatoes and onions and a great flavor, and the borscht was good, although not the best in town. Service was perfunctory and adequate. The atmosphere was cheerful despite being in a relatively low-ceiling cellar. I'd go back for the wide variety of choices, the fresh vegetables and generous portions and the affordable prices.

This is absolutely wonderful place right outside of Uzhhorod hidden from the unwanted eyes. Charda is more than just a restaurant - this is lovely relaxation territory with nice stand alone terraces and gazebos. There is also small pool for kids. Food is terrific. Menu is extensive with tilt towards Hungarian, Central European and Mediterranean cuisines. I ordered Greek salad with grapefruit and veal medallions - both dishes were original, fresh and delicious! And also served very quickly and with a smile. I totally loved this place! One of best in Ukraine for sure.

Cool experience - to eat in a former castle.Large menu with many choices. Not very friendly staff but the food was good. Until the next day, when both my husband and I were sick. We both had dishes that had mushrooms added and we think our upset stomach (which lasted for FIVE days) was due to either old mushrooms or bad mushrooms mixed with ok mushrooms. So if you eat here, don't order anything with mushrooms and perhaps make sure there are other patrons. This restaurant was virtually empty when we were here and it was high tourist season. Very small selection of wine, especially local Ukrainian wine which was a disappointment.Recommend for the experience.Not expensive - our meal with tip was $32USD.Thank you, YayeMama for your comment! If your upset stomachs were due to mushrooms the sickness is coming max in three hours, not the next day. Any way we are very disappointed and wish you be healthy and wealthy!
