Things to do in Nagykanizsa
We opted to eat there in order to avoid typical grilled chunks of meat and fast food the busier places offered. The tables did not look glamorous but the building had that old pre-WWII charm and the worn out menu on the wall offered sophisticated mid-European delights (steaks filled with goose liver and herbs) at the ridiculously low prices. Nowhere in the world can you find the old-school service, charm and attention to the guest like you can in these old places Hungary and that was true of this place too. The manager and the lady who I assume is a proprietor discretely inquired about us and went out of their way to give us dinner, even if the whole restaurant inside was booked for the wedding! Points for that! Unfortunately, the new menu was completely different from the one on the wall and completely in Hungarian! That was a challenge. I don't mind a challenge myself when I am travelling. After a lot of negotiating, I ended up with a large plate of tender pork meat, covered in industrial cheese and defrosted vegetables. It was tasty and ample but not the kind of food I normally eat. The tap beer seemed a little flat too. On the other side, there might be plenty of people who would enjoy that full plate on the budget prices. So, if you don't mind some google translate for the menu, you want to avoid busy places and want to enjoy some old fashioned Hungarian hospitality-go for it.
This place is on the ground level of an old bank building. The food is basically traditional Hungarian food. They have a daily special that is quite reasonable that usually has a main dish and two sides. They can handle special occasions or everyday lunch. The food is always good and portions fair. In the warmer months they have an outdoor seating area along the side of the building that faces out to one of the city squares. In summers large groups from youth camps usually come in so it can be quite hectic. They are also open for dinners. The owner is especially easy to work with and is always out in the area serving and talking with customers.

We stopped there on the way back home from Budapest, basically to spend the remaining HUF :) We were pleasantly surpriced by this place: it is nicely decorated, the pizza was very good and tasty, the service extra fast and even the staff was polite. The price was also extra reasonable, less than 10000 HUF for 4 pizzas and drinks.

First impression was a not too friendly staff, but the food was surprisingly fresh and good. The menu had way too many choices (about 180) but was available in many languages. Probably wouldnât go out of my way to return as no one made us feel extremely welcome.
Delicious and healthy freshwater and saltwater fish fillets. Our meals prepared pan-fried, in the oven or grilled. We offer fish soup with fillets, as well as salads with seafood fruits Reservation and booking is possible
I have tried many sea food restaurants by the seas of Europe and the Caribbean, but the food of KisHalas we had last night beats them all. I had linguine pasta with green mussels, baby said and shrimp. It was fresh, wonderfully made, perfect. The place is very small, so better make a reservation before you go. The owners are very kind. Way to go!

Visited the restaurant after lunch time. Only six guests plus four of us. We therefore expected good service but that did not work out at all. After ordering the drinks it took approximately 15 minutes before they were served. While waiting for our food, which took almost an hour to serve(!), there was a lot of shouting between the service staff and the kitchen staff including heavy swearing. Apparently they did not get along at all that day which we as guests had to listen to.Two of the dishes were rather good but the other two were of very low quality. With the experience we had Iâm not able to recommend Dodolle Restaurant.

I am used to have fine meals in the most uppraised restaurants in Budapest, and around Hungary, so when one of my Colleges whom borned in Nagykanizsa invited me to have a lunch in this restaurant, I had accepted the invite with high expectations. Because my father loves Hungarian cuisine, I am a big fan too, so when I get the opportunity to order, I always order these kinds of dishes. On the billboard there was the daily recommendations, and one of my favourite dishes was one of them, Szarvasvadas Zsemlegombóccal, so I ordered it.This was the best Vadas with Zsemlegombóc that I had in my life.I can't describe it, but it was fenomenal. The service is professional, the restaurant is very tidy, and cozy.If I going to have the opportunity again, I will bring my father to this restaurant, so he can try this dish out to.If you have the chance, eat a meal in this restaurant.Thank you! We are waitng for You!
