Then, we enjoyed gourmet salads and wine as well as our hosts' good humor. We have eaten here quite a few times over the years and the food is really enjoyable. Lunches tend to merge in the memory a bit in Zermatt, but I am pretty sure we both had gnocchi with smoked salmon; our abiding memories are that it was delicious and not, by Zermatt standards, terribly expensive. It remains one of my favourite places to lunch when skiing.

There is nothing nicer when you are on holiday than looking into a bakery window, admiring the bakes. Of course I was drawn inside, allowing myself to absorb all the beautiful smells, and enjoy seeing their full range of bakes. Decided on the local strudel, omg, it was delicious.
