In the 1996 census, the population was recorded as 1,061. In the 2006 census, it was 7,249. By 2011 the population reached 9,043. The Broad Meadow River (Irish: An Gabhair) flows through the town.

Absolutely fab dinner in this lovely cosy romantic restaurant. Suitable for adults and children. Lovely music and very friendly staff. Had the early bird beautiful chicken dish with mushroom sauce and potatoes and salad . Followed with profiteroles and chocolate sauce. Vino was lovely and a nice coffee. Thank you to our waitress Mandy and to Roberto the owner. We'll be back tnks to Luca their top chef x

A most excellent eatery which was recommended to me by an Indian friend and it did not disappoint!It has a great menu with some authentic variants on what we would normally expect from an Irish/British Indian restaurant.Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.
