It is also 17 miles (27 km) south of the county town of Aylesbury, 27 miles (43 km) southeast of Oxford, 23 miles (37 km) north east of Reading and 9 miles (14 km) north of Maidenhead. According to the ONS official estimates for 2016, High Wycombe has a population of 125,257 and it is the second largest town in the county of Buckinghamshire after Milton Keynes. High Wycombe Urban Area, the conurbation of which the town is the largest component, has a population of 133,204.

Stopped at the Works today with the children who had visited earlier in the week with their grandparents. The food was delicious and we were made to feel very welcome. This is quite possibly the friendliest pub I have EVER been to. The staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. We had phoned ahead because we wanted to sleep in our motorhome overnight in the car park. We arrived later than planned but this was not at all a problem for the pub. They had coned off an area in the car park right next to the door to the bar. As soon as we arrived, the landlord Mark came out to guide us in and welcome us. As we entered the pub we found that a table had already been set aside for us and the staff were very quick to attend to us with drinks and a food menu. The food was traditional British pub food. Just what I wanted! As a vegetarian I fully understand that my options are always likely to be quite restricted. I chose the leek and pasta bake. It was gorgeous. So much flavour. It really hit the spot. There was also a good selection of real ales, always a plus for me. I had three pints of a very agreeable brew from the Tring brewery. I am always wary of the possibility of country pubs being posh and exclusive; I need not have been concerned.....in this place any persons from bikers to high court judges would feel very welcome. As well as the staff, all the customers were cheerful, friendly and very welcoming. These even extended to the dogs! These too could not have been more gentle. This is a very dog friendly pub. I must also make special mention of Claire the landlady. A lovely, warm, friendly lady who even though it was a busy evening, made time to sit with us and chat, giving us advice about where to walk our dog and some of the local attractions. One of these included Hughenden Manor, which was a treat not to be missed. We really enjoyed our stay at The Wheel and will will 100% be returning.

First time i tried there jacket potatoes fresh piping hot Choices of fillingsBrilliant prices Fresh quality food currently nicely prepared with salt and pepper sachets Would like to see them.of sweet potatoes as choiceMaybe a loyalty card scheme as well hopefully tables and chairs will be available soon to sit there and eat customer service is amazing even asked me a few days later walking by how was the jacket so friendly and will be definitely be back many times and a good choice for lunchThank you so much for your kind review.
