Reviews on Healthy food in Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. The city of Freiburg im Breisgau sits austerely on the edge of the Black Forest. Home to one of Germany’s oldest universities and a Gothic sandstone cathedral, it’s a hub for academics and medieval history buffs. Chug German suds at a local brewery, then hop a cable car up Schauinsland mountain, where astounding views and a solar observatory await.

Perfect location, nice setting, good and attentive service, good presentation of food.Food quality was just average. The starters (scallops and fish soup) were okay but the main courses were disappointing. Pasta was too âwetâ. My daughter couldnât finish 1/3. My veal was over cooked. The steak and fish plate were average. With this price I expected a better quality.

Friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is lovely. First experience where you have to insert your room key to get the lights on! The restaurant is also lovely. Terrific breakfast. I was really missing scrambled eggs and was so happy to see some on the buffet! It also had standard European breakfast fair.

The Kartoffelhaus celebrates the fabulous tuber in various ways and with great dedication. Our menu offers home-made dishes like mother cooked them, but also interprets potato dishes in a fresh and daringly new way with fresh vegetables and herbs, several
As the name already suggests, this restaurant is specialized in serving potatoes into all it´s different forms.I´ve been here twice since moving to Freiburg and find it a nice restaurant to bring foreign friends to introduce them to the German cuisine.I also really like that the meat they serve is produced locally. The food itself, is not fine dining, but honest decent German meals. The place has a nice relaxing backyard area for outdoor seating. And is a local favourite for big families with kids. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 is, that the place is too big in my humble opinion, and it takes a while before they take your order, getting the drinks or the food when the place is packed.Nevertheless the staff is very friendly and works hard.Dear Djangothanks for the good rating and your hint.In summer it occasionaly happens that all the places inside and outside are occupied and then it can really be a bit too much - unfortunately the problem is not so easy to solve. Since we are not in the city center and most guests explicitly want to come to us, because they value our additional gluten-free or vegan menu, we can not and do not want to just send them away ...beste regards Bettina :)

We attended a birthday celebration for 70 persons and enjoyed a 5 course menue including scallops as a starter followed by monkfish and angus beef among others. Each course was very well prepared - the scallops were tender as they should be, the fish delicious and the beef perfect. Some Frenchmen said that they did not believe Germans could prepare beef so well. The local wines offered matched the food very well. The service was also very good - attentive and not stressed. All in all a very enjoyable evening. A place we will come back to for sure.
