Went on a Na Pali Coast tour which was the best thing we did. After we drove into Waimea and this place stood out. I really like it, old school restaurant with a deck out front overlooking the main street. It's a cowbow/country type store also. We saw a dude on a horse riding down the store and crossed right in front of the restaurant. I got their version of moco loco which doesnt come with egg. Really good rice gravy, hamburger with onion and mushroom. Really good. The other guys got burgers, I should of got a burger they looked awesome with garlic fries. A little hot for me, no AC not even inside. Clean cool place, just needs more fans or AC. I would go again, really nice employees.

Location off the main highway. Something for everyone's craving from Roast Pork Loco Moco a local favorite, special of the day, fresh island fish, TeriBeef burgers and much more. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner entrees. Fresh homemade desserts of all kinds! Before 4pm they have shave ice and other refreshing ice cream choices. Also, if shopping for gifts to take home....cookies are their specialty! Enjoy!

Came across this place as we were sharing a Shave Ice just down the street at JoJoâs. Picked the Number One from the four available items which was delicious Kalua pulled pork, grilled onions over a fat pineapple sausage in a bun. My mouth is watering now. Excellent quick bite after driving up the canyon.

We stopped for a meal here before going on a cruise, and had a couple of rice plates. The food was really good - the vegetables fresh and crisp not over-cooked, the chicken tender and perfectly done. It wasn't a busy time, and we found the service was prompt really helpful - so much so that we wondered if the lady was the owner of the restaurant. I'd definitely go there again if I was in the vicinity.

I discovered Taro Ko Farm many years ago, and often stop by when I am in Hanapepe. Visiting it is a bit like entering a time warp. Everything looks pretty much the same as it did 25+ years ago. The only major changes are that the owner and I are now 25+ years older. Other reviewers have described the location, and the challenge of actually finding the place. As also noted, the external appearance may make you reluctant to go in. It lacks âambienceâ, but it has its rustic charm. Resist the urge to pass it by. Be adventurous. You will occasionally find fresh fruit for sale outside the door. When you walk in you will see, assuming they are not sold out, several kinds of chips that are made in small batches and by hand. Taro, potato, and sweet potato with various flavorings are possible options. Of those that I have tried, I prefer the plain potato and the taro chips. Both are very thinly sliced, fried crisp, and lightly salted with garlic salt. If they are available, they were made that day. You will not find a fresher chip unless you make it yourself. The chips are a bit of an indulgence, with prices of $4 and up for bags that are 3.5 or 4 ounces. In Berkeley they would label them as artisanal, free-range, humanely harvested chips and charge $8 a bag at the Berkeley Farmersâ Market. (Yes, I am joking a little.) This is one of these places where I tend to ignore the price, and just go for the experience, and support a Kauai tradition. There is something quite charming about a small operation like this in very humble surroundings. If you are on the west side of the island, and going through Hanapepe, donât miss it. The chips are indeed very tasty, and you will find that they seem to disappear very quickly. As a bit of advice, mango season tends to start in April, peaks in July, and continues through November. Why is this relevant? If you are going during mango season, you may want resist the temptation to park in the shade of the enormous mango tree that is across the street from this little shop. While on Oahu I had the opportunity to see what a ripe mango did to someone elseâs car after falling from a height of 30 or more feet. So if you see mangos littering the ground, just park a little farther down the way.

This place if of the main highway in Hanapepe. We had a group of 6 and were seated immediately. We were the only "tourists" in the restaurant which appears to be mostly frequented by locals. The food was solid Hawaii comfort food. We had the classic Loco-Moco as well as Kalua Pork Moco and a few other dishes. All of the dishes were plentiful and tasted great. You can't beat the prices either, our group of 6 ate for $60 including a generous tip. Enjoy!

Had lunch at MCS during the week. Attentive service. Nothing in the atmosphere category to write about. Had a chicken salad which was prepared in a pretty bowl. Thai dressing a bit bland. Partner had white fish sandwich which looked boring but he said was good.

We've been looking for a good plate lunch close to Poipu. We finally found it! Fast friendly service from this small, well worn restaurant. We were greeted by a friendly guy as we checked out the menu. While we debated, several locals came in and ordered up their food. Our food was better than expected. Awesome Loco Moco complete with runny eggs and a delish #3 special.Decent portions - we shared two meals for a family of four. As an added bonus, only 5 minutes to Salt Pond Beach. What an awesome find!!
