Stopped once and had to stop again before leaving the Portland area! Shaved ice and some good ol' Hawaiian traditional food items as well. My friends, from Hawaii, can't get enough of this place. I loved the shaved ice with vanilla ice cream in the middle. The only thing I could see about changing things would be to increase seating space due to popularity...they have 4 large refrigerators in the main area that take up a lot of space but could be used for seating.

This place prides themselves on making fresh, home cooked food. So, you can expect to wait 15 to 20 minutes for food that you can get in under 10 minutes at a similar restaurant because they take their time to do a good job. I can say that the food was above average, but not fancy. It's like getting invited to a friend's house who is an excellent cook. So, I recommend it for the food quality but I advise calling in your order before you arrive unless you don't mind waiting up to 20 minutes. Also, this is a "food counter order" place. There is no wait staff... just order and wait for your name to be called. Also, the place was clean although the decor is starting to get worn out.

Hy's shrimp is a new baby of Big wave shrimp, a world famous shrimp truck in Hawaii Hy's shrimp inherits all famous and delicious shrimp plates from the existing BWS and serves them right here in Beaverton.
We ordered teriyaki chicken, crispy shrimp and shrimp fried rice. Everything comes with Mac salad and a small green salad. The shrimp dishes come with fresh pineapple. The crispy shrimp and teriyaki also come with steamed rice. Everything was great! The crispy shrimp is butterflied and probably breaded there - really good. The shrimp on the fried rice was deveined but still in the shell. Itâs very close to our house - and weâll definitely return!

Being Hawaiian myself, I am EXTREMELY picky about Hawaiian food (and trust, there are some real bummers in the Portland area). That being said, Roxy's Island Grill is everything that is right with a Hawaiian food experience. It's an unassuming little hole in the wall (which totally adds to the charm) situated in the parking lot of a bowling alley. Everything is cooked to order - this is NOT fast food. Personal favorites - Teriyaki chicken, sweet garlic chicken shoyu chicken. Do yourself a favor and get a mix plate with all mac salad. Your waistline won't thank you, but your tummy will (read: Hawaiian size portions). Got 3 lunches and 2 drinks today for $27 - can't go wrong. Had a fantastic lunch with the fam all while listening to some good Hawaiian reggae.I would selfishly want to keep this place a secret, but it's just too good!
