We live just around the corner and tried this place when re opened as we had been previously and enjoyed it, probably the worst pub food I have had, everything frozen and not the best quality, burgers overdone, waitresses chatting in front of customers about their work shifts, not really interested in the customers, we were asked if everything was OK at the end of the meal when plates were being collected, won't be going back considering it was the same price as another establishment on the same road which excels itself on home made quality produce, I believe in giving new business's a chance, but unless this place dramatically improves I won't be back, I have given a lot of reviews in the past and give my honest opinion, but didn't experience anything worth going back for.

Overlooking a cricket square in the Dentons Green area of St Helens, Sticky Wicket Bar & Grub offers two distinct areas - the dining room and the bar. Food can be taken in both areas with reservations taken for the dining room. Offering quality dining, th
My family numbering 5 went for Sunday lunch for Father's Day.The venue is very nice and the staff were lovely very friendly but I'm afraid everything went downhill after the excellent starters Salt and Pepper Chicken which was delicous. 3 people ordered the Sunday lunch with chicken and various vegetables, the chicken was very bland and tasteless, my Grandson who is very picky about vegetables Emailed berorehand asking for things to be left off his meal, but it arrived as a norma lunch and had to be replaced. My Son in law ordered the Sunday lunch with gammon which came as 3 strips of thick boiled ham like something you would get at a supermarket. I ordered the Chicken and Leek pie which came sat on a load of chips with a pile of overcooked mushy peas.I am a keen cook and regularly make Cheese pie but I struggled to get any taste of either cheese or leeks and in the words of a well known chef it had a soggy bottom. I was very disappointed with the whole experience, but what suprised me most has no member of staff asked did we enjoy the meal even though plates had plenty of uneaten food on them. Unfortunately nobody wanted to spoil an otherwise pleasant day by complaining at the time. My daughter sent an Email the day after and as of today's date had not received a reply. Suffice to say we will not be returning to this restaurant again.Thank you for taking the time to leave a review following your daughter's email. The email has been passed to our Food & Beverage Manager so apologies that you haven't received a reply. We will follow up where the response is.

Enjoy the Houghwood experience in a perfect setting, overlooking the beautiful North West Countryside. With a modern British menu on offer, together with traditional Sunday Lunch. The first floor restaurant with its great food, friendly staff, magnificent
Very pleasant surroundings with beautiful views as far as the river Mersey. Brunch in the Spikes Bar was okay but the menu has been much reduced including the disappearance of the scrumptious turkey and cranberry sandwiches. No festive afternoon teas being served this year also a disappointment. Hopefully the new year will see a review of the menu. Also £2.25 for a small bottle of Coca Cola is rather excessive.

Got to be the worst Sunday roast I have ever had! We were told there was a delay on food of 20 minutes- it was much longer - we had roast beef dinners, the meat was strange/tasteless, gravy hardly existed so asked for 3 more portions, tasteless as well, roast potatoes were ok but the veg , dreadful! came in 2 small bowls that looked like a pudding bowl, peas and green beans..NO carrots or carrot and swede..like on photo, no cabbage (unless the tiny bit of dried up leaf in the veg bowl mixed in with everything else was supposed to be cabbage). To top it all it looked like it had been nuked in the microwave! Inedible! I asked the waitress where was the carrots..she replied they had ran out! The waitress offered us the â40% off offerâ that was on ( I already had a voucher), paid and left wishing I had sent everyoneâs whole meal back, felt sick! But had an elderly lady with us so we paid and left quietly. Terrible!

Returned here after a break due to the place going from 5 star to zero following a takeover, however, now under a different manager and whilst not yet back to the standard of a few years back everything is cooked fresh and to a good standard, Sunday lunch was very good, we will return to try other food here & update again but is worth a visit.
