Home Cooked, Locally Sourced, Honest Food. All meat supplied by Hanson butchers of Wainfleet, seasonal vegetables by LKTE of Friskney from local farmers. Also, homemade desserts which change weekly.
We have live in the local area but have not been in the woolpack for a few years due to the constant change in management and the local vibe from other people that have visited the pub.A new landlady has been in place for three months so thought about time we gave it a try. Went in on a Wednesday evening and during our meal in the restaurant area we could see across to the bar area and it was very busy all night which is good to see.We ordered mains followed by desserts and wow.All proper home cooked food no microwave rubbish. The kids and us loved every bit of the mains and then dessert arrived. Once again home cooked brownies / apple crumble with great tasting ice cream and proper custard. To have a pub in the village cooking quality food like this is amazing and is so welcome. We will definitely be back soonThank you so much for your kind review. Lynda is delighted by the feedback, as am I. We both look forward to seeing you again. Mike(Lynda's husband).

Quality Authentic Indian Quisine
This is an absolute gem of a place. The food here is consistently good and always well presented. Drinks are a bit pricey but overall a great experience every time.
This was our first trip to Heron Mead and The Hide restaurant, and we were both extremely impressed. The fantastic welcome by the owner and staff was so welcoming. What planned as a quick snack turned out to be all afternoon, starting with a coffee, then a succulent Ribeye steak each, cooked by Shelly to perfection. There is a big plate full, 10oz steak chunky chips and healthy salad, devine. We were rather full, and had our second coffee on the terrace, wow what a view over two lakes. We sat chatting to two customers that lived in Skegness and three hours later, we had exchanges details as they were born in our hometown of Bolsover. Overall outstanding, we will definitely be returning.

We have been here before on a number of occasions and have had really nice food and good service. Easter Sunday we came again and were really disappointed. I had special of pasta aribiatta which was ok, obviously microwaved and over spiced. Kids had junior meals, spar bol seemed to have shepherds pie rather than Bolognese. She ordered chilli and rice. Asked waiter if came with sour cream etc which he grunted that would see what could do. Came without with no mention of it... Kids corn on cob was missing and substituted with sweet corn. Again no mention and when queried were told 'we ain't got none.' Staff were unfriendly and nobody asked if all was ok until collecting plates. Said chilli was disgusting. Not eaten. Brown mushy mess that had been nuked and said not paying for. Manager came over and started telling us that she eats it and she thinks it is ok... obviously got different standards to us. She was reluctant to take off the bill. Eventually did but no apology and was really arsey. Overall this was a totally bad experience. Place was empty on Easter Sunday, was this down to the staff and food? All staff (apart from 1 young girl) were lacking in customer service skills. Shame as a nice setting and as mentioned we had nice experience previously.

My daughters and I arrived to a warm welcome, ordered drinks, meals ordered within minutes. Food was absolutely first class. Delicious Sunday roasts at their finest. Staff extremely observant but not intrusive. Cannot recommend highly enough. For a faultless experience this is as good as it gets. Belly Pork with crackling scrumptious.
