Purmerend ( pronunciation (help·info)) is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The city is surrounded by polders, such as the Purmer, Beemster and the Wormer. The city became the trade center of the region but the population grew relatively slowly. Only after 1960 did the population start to grow from around 10,000 to around 80,000 by the 2010s. From the 1960s onwards, Purmerend has seen major expansion and continues to do so. This expansion has turned Purmerend into a commuter town; many inhabitants of Purmerend (14,200 in 2011), work, go to school or spend their leisure time in Amsterdam. Purmerend is part of the Randstad, one of the largest conurbations in Europe.

We've ordered desserts (cheesecake, chocolate mousse), some wine and coffee.Desserts are very small and not so tasty (at least in our opinion). When I requested bill - the waiter asked if we liked the desserts. I gave an honest feedback that we didn't quite like it. The waiter somehow was insulted and advised us to go to McDonalds and get some desserts there.I don't recommend this place if you seek for good tasty food and good mood.

Funky little place... Small inside but great friendly service. I was alone and the staff made me feel very welcome indeed. Even chatted about what I had been up to during my visit to Zaandam.I ordered hot chocolate and a bacon cheeseburger with fries.It was fab. Really enjoyed this little place.. funky music.. a lot of cocktails on the menu along with beers and wines.I ate early (around 5pm) so did not soak up the evening atmosphere but I would imagine that ambience is very cool in the evenings.Great little place... recommend a visit for some decent food at a decent price!!Hi Suitcasesally22, Thank you very much for your review :DReviews like this, always makes us blush!We hope to see you again. Na enige tijd weer eens shoarma of iets gerelateerd gegeten en doorgaans naar De Parel. De entourage is bekend maar het eten viel deze keer toch wat tegen. Weinig smaak aan de shoarmapizza en de knoflooksaus was ook .com si .com sa.. Het zou ook fijn zijn als ze tijdens de maaltijd nog een keer komen vragen of we iets willen drinken. Jammer want het was goed.

Ik kom hier al zeker 15 jaar en nergens is de smaak en kwaliteit zo constant als bij Babylon! Broodjes zijn goed gevuld en heerlijk van smaak, diverse sausen naast de knoflooksaus krijg je er altijd bij. Vooral de rode uiensaus is geweldig!
