I've tried many restaurants around the d'ath road and rue grande and notice they all serve the same steak and pizza type food. This restaurant offered something more. The service was fine and prices very good compared to neighbouring restaurants which was a pleasant surprise. The food was very tasty and had that home cooked feel to it. We had an amazing prawn starter to share and tagines each for main that were out of this world. The chef uses herbs as spices to really good effect; not overpowering but noticeable. Please be aware that ravine will take 20-30 minutes which is normal for tagine cooking. The menus was really simple to follow and the waiter spoke great English which helped when we reached our limit in French. My minor criticism is the starters seemed to be priced the same as the mains which seemed a little expensive although they were good quality. The decor is quite neutral and given the menu I would have expected a more Moroccan/African ambience but that didn't affect the whole experience. The restaurant takes cards as payment which isn't always the case locally and after we dined there is a little wine bar next to the restaurant which was nice to have a drink in afterwards. The bar offers great botanical gins served in large glasses which finished the evening off well.Overall a friendly little restaurant that offers something more personal than the competition.I recommend the lamb and vegetable tagine to any brits reading this who miss a Sunday lunch. Apart from being served in a tagine instead of a plate it was a pretty good match for Sunday dinner!

Sadly this restaurant really was poor. The service was slapdash and the food utterly average. Despite its wonderful location on the Groote Markt, the food was poorly presented, with lifeless overcooked frites and totally uninspiring preparation & ingredients.
