Local artisans who respect the land and the seasons, high quality ingredients simply but cleverly transformed. This is what to expect from the menu of our Osteria Borgo Syrah. A sincere-taste cuisine, where local ingredients, own-garden vegetables and our
Beautiful venue with a great heritage. Unfortunately, the food (despite its culinary aspirations) was disappointing. We ordered the dishes of the day, octopus as a starter and pasta with cod for main, and two a la carte dishes, beef (turned out to be beef tartare which may offset some people when misinformed) as a starter and pasta with bottarga. The octopus was not cleaned very well and in texture was very rubbery (even dry at some parts), the pasta with bottarga was undercooked (not al dente, I know my pasta) and tasted fishy and was missing a nice piece of codfish. The beef tartare was a bit of a surprise, as I was expecting a cooked piece of beef because the menu didn't mention tartare. Though the meat was of great quality, the tartare was underseasoned and too roughly chopped. The wines were brilliant though! We had a rose, a Viognier and a syrah, all exceptional wines from their own vineyards. We would recommend going here for the wines (the first winery to bring syrah grapes to Tuscany).

Now I know it's a bold statement and not to be taken lightly (trust me I have eaten enough steak around the World) but I can honestly say it was the best steak I have ever eaten! The restaurant looked quiet from the street but we were shown through to a beautiful courtyard out the back. This restaurant is owned by a lovely young couple who were so friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing and we would highly recommend!
