This is located near the Routunda of Agios Nikolaos (not Ellunda actually). Its a small hole in the wall restaurant and the owners are very pretty much involved in the business. They cook their food fresh and when we ordered food, the husband left bought fresh meat and showed it to us and cooked it really quickly. After they served our food, even passers by were so impressed they stopped by to eat.

A traditional greek fish tavern right at the small port of Plaka, Elounda with a splendid view of Spinalonga Island
Iâm very partial to grilled sardines and when I asked the concierge at my hotel at Elounda which taverna in the area served the best sardines, she at once replied: âGorgona in Plaka.âLike all recommendations in Greece, I wondered if this was a stitch-up. The taxi driver who drove me the five kilometres there and back was probably her brother; the owner of Taverna Gorgona her cousin. But the grilled sardines, cooked on an open grill were to die for. I followed the sardines with calamari, washed down with a small bottle of Retsina. The bill came to less than 15 Euros. It was a charming experience and I was furious that I had discovered it on the last night of my holiday.Like all Greek resorts, Plaka seems to have as many tavernas as residents so save yourself the agony of indecision and make straight for Gorgona. Itâs a friendly family taverna on a premium spot on the waterfront with a view of Spinalonga island. It has a very substantial menu but I suggest that you stick to what is fresh and caught locally and ask for a table outside at the waterâs edge. Now hereâs something thatâs never happened to me before: at Heraklion airport on the way home, a woman came up to me and said, âWas it you we saw having dinner at Gorgona last night?â âYes it was,â I replied, surprised. âWhy?â'My husband and I were at the table right behind you,' she said. âWe saw your sardines and ordered the same. We had the best meal of the holidayâ. âSame here,â I told her.

Incorporating the resort's signature color, the Blue Door is a typical Greek Taverna with a spectacular beach-front location. As part of its mission to remain true to island roots, the Blue Palace Resort & Spa has transformed an old fisherman's stone hous
There was a lot of food but most of it was meh and the roasted lamb was terrible. We made our reservation at breakfast and when we got there our name wasn't on the list. Entertainment mediocre.

Found the place on TripAdvisor, looking for one of those rare places where you don't overspend despite eating fresh fish. The place is marked as "£" on TripAdvisor wrongly, as we paid exactly the same of "£££" restaurants (â¬56 for two starters/two mains, 1 lemonade, 2 beers). You wouldn't expect frozen seafood on the menu when you are literally 10m from the water and yet, you could find just 1/2 starters not starred on the menu. Opted for the marinated anchovies, they were extremely salty. Seafood spaghetti (â¬16) coming cold (certainly you will not be offered to have it cooked again, they will warm it up) and cooked in a tomato canned sauce over spiced with oregano and dill. But don't worry, you will get explained that dill is better than PARSLEY with seafood pastas, as parsley doesn't taste of anything from an expert of seafood cooking in excellent English from London (hilarious, notoriously great seafood location).Positive notes: I chose the grilled seabream as it was one of the few choices without the frozen star and it was effectively amazing and well cooked. Very kind in offering the ouzo after fruit. Excellent english spoken, the place is practically a common European restaurant.
