They just didn't seem to make any effort here. Maybe because there aren't many other restaurants in the area, which means they have little to no competition. We were not impressed and would not recommend this place.

We were glad that we followed the other reviewers and stopped for dinner here. It was just what we were looking for: casual, inexpensive, and quite tasty. The roasted meat (I can not remember which "bratten" it was) and potatoes were excellent; tender meat, full flavored sauce, and plenty of thin sliced roasted potatoes. The turkey salad was tasty too; large portioned. With a bottle of water the bill totaled 27â¬; plenty of good food for the money. We did our best to navigate the Italian/German menu; an English speaking waiter was most helpful.

The opportunity to try an all-chestnut dinner was just too attractive not to try, and the kitchen did not disappoint. There was even chestnut beer available, which was not bad at all. We had the chestnut gnocchi and chestnut mousse, both delicious. Of course these were special courses not available all the time, but the creativity and the resulting tastes seem to be indicative of the quality of the kitchen. We pulled into town late Christmas Eve not expecting to find much. This was the only restaurant open. We were pleasantly surprised. We had great service and all our choices were excellent and the bill was very reasonable. This ended up being the highlight of our week visit, and we tried several higher TripAdviser rated restaurants. We will back.
