Find out what Grill restaurants to try in Camps Bay. Shaded spots go early at Cape Town's crowded Camps Bay, where locals picnic and play in the strong Atlantic waves. Look for the flagged bathing areas for safer swims for all the family. Festive cafes sit adjacent to the sands, which are dramatically set at the foot of the Twelve Apostles mountains.

Especially after reading the reviews. We walked down the hill from the Cheviot Place Guest House and then took a right. Pretty soon there was the shop on Main Rd.Hubby had the Chalmar T Bone 500 grams @ 299Rand. He thought it was good, but certainly NOT the best steak he's ever had. I had the Loin Lamb Chops @229Rand. Both came w/sweet potato fries and cole slaw. We had 2 coke zeros. I thought the lamb chops i make at home are better. At 602 R, incl tip......no bargain. Waitstaff just OK. It was a very early Monday evening. The restaurant area was NOT "hoppin".Hi there! Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate it so much :) We are running a buy-one-get-one free special until the end of October that you might enjoy. Choose between, steak, lamb chops and burgers under which the special applies :)

The Hussar was soo good that we returned for a second visit. Located in an upscale, safe area of Capetown and less than a 10 minute uber or 25 min walk from the VA waterfront its worth a visit from wherever your staying. The menu offers a variety of traditional steak cuts as well as lamb and game dishes. It was difficult to decide. They even came to the table with the steak cuts to choose from. My friend had the steak, I had the lamb chops. Both were cooked to perfection; the traditional sides dishes offered were delicious and plentiful, I particularly loved the mashed potatoes, and the side sauces were some of the best I ever tasted. There was an extensive drink menu, we had a mojito and wine both times. The service was flawless, attentive and friendly. We requested Tony for our return visit as he was impeccable. The unbelievable part was the cost, two meals , sides and 4 drinks? 50$ yes.... 50$ including a 20% tip. I couldn't recommend Hussar's grill any higher. Awesome meal and service. Good evening matneastieThank you for a beautifully written review. It is always a pleasure to serve great steaks and certainly more when its appreciated by our guests.Tony is currently on leave, thank you for your kind words,Tony is a real asset to Hussar grill."We love him to bits"Please be assured this review will be passed on to him when his back!We hope to see you soon.Thank you for choosing us!Tracy and Team Hussar

Jill and I were in Cape Town and after walking all over town we wanted a quick meal before we went back to the hotel. Da Vinci's was the perfect place. The tables are not fancy, and neither are the crockery and cutlery. But the food is good and that trumps the other things, as you are not paying a fortune to eat here.Asit was Happy Hour when we got to the restaurant, my Skeleton Coast IPA 330ml was R17.50 instead of the usual R35, Jill had a Rock Shandy, but soft drinks are obviously not Happy as she paid the full R30. Jill originally ordered a lasagne but when it came it was short on meat content and they changed it for a Spagetti Bolognese (R100) I had fish and chips. The fish was two large pieces of hake with crispy chips. These came very hot, and the fish was fresh and white, not frozen, watery and brown. Our Zimbabwean waitress was standing near and before we could ask to have the Lasagne replaced she swooped down on the table and said that she could see Jill was not happy and offered a replacement, immediately. She was followed by the manageress who apologised and asked if the new dish, which came promptly was OK. Apart from the fact that these two deluded ladies were Man U fans, you could not fault the service. That is the sort of service and care for the customer that makes you want you want to return and eat at this restaurant again. Good portions, good cooking and good service. Worth walking up Kloof Street for.

We decided to early dinner at Nelson as we were traveling with our baby and were concerned for his sleeping hours. The restaurant is by no means equip for toddlers or babie but the staff went out of their way to make us comfortable.Let's the start with the service - absoluety fabulous! I could not have been more satisfied with the level of professionalism and genuine friendliness. As mentioned we were with a baby and he was getting a bit cranky having had to stay put. The owner ( I think he was the owner) was kind enough to show us the grill in which the grill an gave the baby a "fire show" which kept him entertained.... At some point the owner even took our little punk for greetings round the restaurant while we were able to take more bites of the wonderful food. Honestly I never felt so welcome. And now to the food - superb! Haven't had such a fine steak in ages. The fillet is an absolute MUST as it melts like butter in your mouth, and the rump steak was beautifully done, full of flavors and uumph. The sides too were excellent, we had a baked potato with sour cream and creamed spinach - both were excellent standalone dishes. To cut a long story short - the meat is beyond this world! After dinner the owner/manager also walked us to our car so that we feel safe. We had a great time and hope to be back in Cape Town so we can pop in again.

Staying in the area , we took the opportunity to eat here twice and thoroughly enjoyed our meals on both occasions. The steaks here are fantastic! We had the oysters to start, which were creamy and tender, then the surf and turf..perfectly cooked steak, followed by the pear tarte tatin (my fave!) We came back for the oysters and steak, they were so good. Our two servers were Best and Mr Q, both looked after us very well, were helpful and friendly. The restaurant is upstairs in the Checkers mall, really nice decor and ambience, is very popular so booking is essential. They are open for lunch too. Highly recommended.

The Hussar Grill in Camps Bay is regarded as one of South Africa's premier restaurants, serving only the best steak available.
We thought we would treat ourselves to a much deserved steak and the reviews suggested it would be fantastic. On arrival we made to feel welcome and the waitress seemed helpful. The waitress brought over the meat board and was very knowledgeable about the cuts. This is the point things went slightly wrong. We were asked what we wanted and I stated I wanted the Chateaubriand, at which point the waitress insisted that my partner and I got the tomahawk, the signature dish at the restaurant. We ordered our sides and waited for the âtoo good to describeâ steak. It came out and the first bite was ok, nothing earth shattering, the meat was only warm. The next bite was awful, the meat was cold, not the cool down associated with well rested meat, but it was fridge cold. I had a few more bites, with varying success, but it was not good.A member of staff came over and asked what we thought of the signature dish, I stated it was tasty, but cold. She immediately offered to get it warmed up/cooked more medium. We asked for it just to be warm and turned down the offer of a free side. When the steak came back out it was at a temperature you would expect at a highly rated restaurant, but the actual cut of meat was disgusting, very fatty and hardly any fillet type meats in it. I am not a meat expert, but when I was asked what I wanted, I asked for a Chateaubriand, not a fatty cut of cold meat.We finished what we could and got the bill, at which point the waitress asked if we knew the bill did not include a service charge. I stated to the waitress that her amazing recommendation was not what I had asked for and the quality of the meat and standard of cooking was poor. Still in shock that she suggested we tipped after spending R600 more on her bad recommendation. I will never have a Tomahawk again, very disappointing trip and I will never go back. I am sure the fillet would have been better.Dear Mrmthompson,Thank you for your review of our The Hussar Grill Camps Bay steakhouse. We are extremely disappointed to hear that the service and food wasn't of the highest quality. We would like an opportunity to contact you.
