Things to do in Mochlos
We enjoyed the atmosphere. If you like traditional Cretan food with a friendly smile and spectacular view, try Remezzo. It is not in the 'scene' of the other resturaunts so perfect if you are looking for a slice of quiet and tranquility overlooking the Minoan remains on the island, and to enjoy fresh seafood and yummy salad. Of course, this comes with the complimentary Raki!
We visited Karpouzi for lunch and got a table in the sun with view to the village beach and the island with the minorian ruins. Fabulous view! And the food was just as fabulous and delicious.Furthermore the owner really ensured that we got a good experience by showing the famous Crete hospitality. We also got a long talk with him about life in Crete and in Denmark.Overall one of the great experiences during our holiday on the eastern part of Crete - so we can highly recommend Karpouzi (greek for watermelon ).thank you very much and I hope to see you agein .
Stopped at Mochlos on a very hot day to have a quick lunch. Dakos and vlita where nice, anchovies were very fresh and only lightlely fried. Grilled sardines should have been fresher - after all, Mochlos is famed for having 40 fish taverns, fresh fish should be in abundance. Bill came to 30 with a couple of pints. 4/5

It was such a nice experience to have lunch at this taverna. The food was excellent, the location superbe with a wonderful view over the bay and a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Spyros is a great host. We will definitely come back to Kavouria on our next visit to Mochlos.

Nice place next to small bay. Rather crowdy - many tourists, but road to town not easy. Fresh fish good. Swordfish average (not so fresh as told?). Very good octopus salad (pickled). Very good grilled vegetables. French fries not good (old fat maybe?). Greek salad different and interesting - fresh feta, chives instead of onion. Shells grilled - good. Fruits free after dinner. Prices above average. Fresh fish and other seafood available.

Amazing location right on the waterfront on Mochlos to enjoy views to the island and also of the little boats coming in and out, and of people trying to swim to the island! Super friendly owner who spends time explaining (and letting you visit) the day's catch! Food was perfect and the wine pairing was always spot on. Loved it so much we came back! Can highly recommend.

At this taverna you can expect freshly prepared greek food with excellent seasoning at more than reasonable prices. Juices are made freshly from garden fruits, vegetables have excellent quality, meat is grilled on a wood-fired barbecue. We had stuffed zucchini flowers, fried zucchini, grilled chicken, spinach pies (with cumin, yummie!), a complimentary salad and sardines, everything was excellent! I highly recommend!

With an extra day in Sitia, I decided to visit the Minoan ruins on Mochlos island. Nikos of Sitian Holidays set up my trip, with my contact, Marianna at Mesostrati Taverna. Mochlos is a quaint village ribboning along the edge of the sea and has many cafes. Mesostrati is one of the best. After 90 minutes of perusing amazing Minoan ruins, I returned for lunch at Mesostrati. The Taverna has two venues, one sits seaside under a canvas roof, but the main Taverna sits back with a large wrap around porch, as well as an interior seating attractive to a white American who had Maxed his time in the sun. After my cool down: club soda, white wine and freddo espresso, I ordered the Mesostrati salad and Fava bean dip. The salad: freshly grilled chicken, crisp leaf lettuce, ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, olives and fresh herbs tossed in a lemony vinageratte. The Fava dip complemented well, swiped out by crusty bread. The meal provided transcendence from hot, hungry fatigue to cool satisfaction. The menu features Greek salads, appetizers and mezzes (salmon salad and zucchini balls recommended). Grills include seafood (Lobster, Octopus, Red snapper, Swordfish or Shrimp) and meat: mixed, souvlakis, chicken or pork filet or classic burger.Pastas as well: carbonara, seafood and shrimp. Lamb from the oven as well. The wine list is highlighted by Lyrarakis assyrtiko (white) and Doulakis kotsifali- syrah (Red). Dessert, appertifs and more, Minoans choose Mesostrati and so should you!

We have eaten here many times over the years, one memorable meal was when we were taken here by our friends to sample the local shrimps in November when they had just come into season We have also eaten in the upstairs cafe too the latest time was just last week, when we had a simple lunch of fava and dakos which was delicious....and of course the views are stunning

The setting was relaxed and they were very accommodating to our baby. My seafood risotto had too much pepper for my taste, but it was very fresh and cooked well. The mezze platter was our favorite.
