The restaurant at the Gasthaus Schwanen offered a delightful dinner. My pork medallions were precisely cooked, the pork itself had a better than average flavor, the pfifferlinge mushrooms were fresh and tasty, the sauce was rich and buttery, and the spaetzle were very eggy, obviously just made on premises, and delicious. Service was correct and I experienced none of the issues other reviewers have raised. The dining room decor/style is of a higher class than one usual encounters. While I had a beer, there were many local wine choices. It was a tad too cool for dining in the garden, but I can see this as a good choice on a warmer day.

Restaurant has been modernised not too long ago. Very busy. Its a bit too expensive for my liking but food was good. Its proximity to Basel probably affects the pricing. Some good local wines on offer too.

We were a group of four, and the restaurant was full. The acoustics meant that it was very noisy. My wife started with a green salad - fresh and with good dressing, but heaped on the plate in an unimaginative way. My seafood and orange risotto starter was excellent. The couple who accompanied us enjoyed their carpaccio. The two ladies and I ordered fish as the main dish, and here the problems started. My wife and I got our sole and - after a long wait - the potatoes to accompany them; the first serving of the fish was very tasty, the second was over-salted and starting to dry out. Our friend had to send his liver back to be drained, as it was swimming in butter, and his wife waited and waited... Finally she was told that her perch had been burned, and she'd have to wait for a new batch. That duly arrived - and was very good - and much later the tartar to accompany it, by which time the rest of us were almost finished. Two of us had small ice cream desserts, and all four mineral water and coffee. Our fish was accompanied by the very good local pinot grigio (Weiler Schlipf). My impression was of a fair restaurant on a bad day.

I ate here with a colleague. This is a bar/restaurant. The place is fairly small. The food is well cooked, not too many dishes you can choose of. But then again, there are not a lot of restaurants close of the Weil area. All in all, it is a visit worthy place. Prices might be a little too high for the food that is provided but as long as there is not more restaurants in that area it is competitive.

Came by for a weekday lunch. We had a group of 4 and the consensus was that the food was fairly good but not great. Had the potato soup (apparently house speciality), flammekuchen, their daily special and the white asparagus specials that all restaurants in the region serve this time of year. Service was very good and we liked the general ambience of the place. Prices were reasonable.

Today I was back at Gasthaus Kranz for a business lunch for 30 Eur: Variation vom Räucherlachs mit Blattsalaten, Maispoulardenbrust mit Balsamico, Schalotten und Apfel, Kartoffel Püree, Orangenmousse mit frischen Beeren.Today the meal was a little bit too salted. The service was slow and not so friendly.I hope next time will be better

Wow this is a great restaurant in Lorrach Germany. We walked to this from our hotel about a 7 minute walk. The owners greeted us and we ate large. The salads are fresh and very tasty dressings. The steaks are well prepared and wow on the salmon and veal dishes. Very nice atmosphere and the dishes are like art work for these people. I will be coming back again.

We were here with friends in early January. The restaurant was jam packed and there was one large group of about 25 sitting together. You couldn't hear yourself think. I ordered the Kütteln sauer. Accompanying salad was good. The Rösti were OK but right on the border of being too brown. There was a faint burnt potato taste. The Kütteln were surprisingly mediocre. I've had this dish a number of times here and it has been excellent. This time the sauce was over salted and concentrated. As though they made a quick bit of instant stock and over did it with powder. It was also thickened with cornstarch. Too thick to start with with and a disgusting gluey mess by the time I finished the meal. Also, the four of us were presented with a basket of bread with just four thin slices. No Griebenschmaltz or Gänseschmaltz as usual at this time of year. My wife's fish cake was salty. Take home message: Don't go there when it is likely to be crowded. The kitchen staff was obviously stressed out and the food clearly suffered. Surprisingly the wait staff were calm, friendly and efficient. Kudos to those ladies.
