The Melker Stiftskeller is part of the Melkerhof in Vienna's Schottengasse 3 in the first district. A certificate from 1629 proves that there was a wine-cellar connected with the Melkerhof already at that time. In addition it confirms the right of the Abb

With cosy and welcoming environment, this bar offering traditional vienna food. The waiter was kind enough to run through the options and recommended a good option. The goulash was in big size and rich flavoured. The damping companyed was something special from local. A very good night of dining out.

Stopped here at 11pm as nothing else was open. Surprised to see 4 policemen and warily entered as we thought something was wrong...imagine our relief to find they were purchasing their late night snack! We all had a slice of Leberkas in bread roll washed down with a beer. It wasn't something I would rave about but it was a quick and very cheap snack. I didn't try horse meat nor the chilli cheese but they seemed quite popular. I am glad we tried Leberkas-Pepi.Thank you for your visit! Maybe next time you want to try horse or chili to convince yourself of the taste :-)

I went with friends who knew where I could have a schnitzel to remember. We were warmly welcomed and sat at a table outside due to the 33C day. All the staff seemed friendly. The food portions were HUGE! I was defeated at the end as I tasted my friendâs ribs. Lucky, I didnât have the large portion. They served litre-sized beers which seemed âtouristicâ but I didnât care. The food was very good.

We had a birthday diner at the Rote Bar and it proved to be a perfect choice. From reservation to bill all communication was smooth and friendly. Service during diner was correct but not stiff, at times even jovial but always pleasant. Although recognisable as tourists, we felt genuinely welcome. Most important: the food. That was simply excellent. We tried several classic Austrian dishes and they were all close to perfect. On leaving, we were offered a birthday gift. Altogether, Rote Bar exceeded our expectations in every way. It is not a cheap restaurant, but its quality matches its price.Dear reviewer "EricStefano", I would like to thank you very much for taking your time to share your feedback with us on TripAdvisor. We are very delighted to hear that you chose Rote Bar for a birthday celebration and that you and your company enjoyed a wonderful dinner with us. We had not planned on coming here but it happened to be the right place at the right time . Extremely friendly service. Cosy atmosphere. Food (spareribs) very good. French fries were unfortunately just the frozen variety. Apricot dumplings huge and tasty. Beer fresh.

Even though we had booked a table we still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated and then a further 25 minutes to order drinks and then a wait to order our meal. Therefore expect to be some time. The staff were pleasant but verty rushed. Either someone was sick or they do not employ enough people. My schnitzel was enormous however.
