Remagen is a town in Germany in the Land Rhineland-Palatinate, in the district of Ahrweiler. It is about a one-hour drive from Cologne, just south of Bonn, the former West German capital. It is situated on the left (western) bank of the river Rhine. There is a ferry across the Rhine from Remagen every 10–15 minutes in the summer. Remagen has many beautiful and well-maintained buildings, churches, castles and monuments. It also has a sizeable pedestrian zone with plenty of shops.

I have eaten at Uhrmacher's at least three times over the past 2 years, and have always been very pleased with both the food and the service. The menu changes frequently, and there is always something new and seasonal to try. The food is very good, and I prefer it to nearly all of the restaurants I have tried in Bonn. The decor is simple but elegant. Prices are reasonable given the quality of the food. My only wish would be for a more exciting and varied dessert menu.

We came here for a coffee after our meal. The service was good and the drinks were good too. The atmosphere is calm and beautiful. Sitting outside looking at the beautiful scenery was wonderful.

We cycled into Remagen from Bonn looking for a good, quick lunch and found just what we wanted. Beers with sausages and great salads hit the spot and we were soon on our way again.

Visiting the âAlte Rebeâ is a great experience in taste and service. It is something special you wonât find in many places. Because you find at the menu local dishes, cooked in a fabulous way while remaining itâs natural character. However, the dishes are lifted up by some details that make it a real experience - even though remaining classic dishes. And apart from traditional dishes such as braised beef cheeks or fish you are always offered additional seasonal dishes, such as asparagus from local farmers. For example: In May I had a special asparagus menu for Motherâs Day. And not only the soup in the beginning was pure in taste, but also the main dish was a great combination of asparagus with a light fish and a citrus-butter sauce. Another time we have been there, I had a fabulous curry that was delicious because it remained its original taste and the wide range of herbs, while it wasnât too spicy. Even though, the chef adapts the meals according to your personal wishes. Comparing this restaurant to other local restaurants in Germany, the difference is that you have a team that loves food and presents it like this, while being accessible to everyone. Many locals usually wish to get what they know, having trouble trying deviations. But here you get a great combination of both: local great dishes with a spoon tip of something special. And that for me is art. I by myself, am a local who has seen several sites in Europe and the world, where I have visited numerous exquisite and basic restaurants. Most recently I have spent a couple of years in Munich which also offers an amazing cuisine. And the âAlte Rebeâ is definitely a great place to visit to get an idea of delicious local German cuisine!Even though it is not located at the Rhine, you have a great view at the authentic live from Remagen and the town hall. Furthermore, from that point of view you can get an idea of the life more than 2.000 years ago, when Remagen was founded by the Romans. If you are interested, you can also visit I the museum that is close by.Or you have a look at the numerous art-galleries around and go with the artistic flow, enjoying your artistic meal :)So âAlte Rebeâ is highly recommend! Enjoy your dishes!

This most attractive building dominates the Market Place and rightly so. It is at the very hub of this beautiful village of Erpel. Sorry, we can't comment on the food. I'm sure others have done so though. Well worth coming over on the regular ferry from Remagen (3 euros return) to explore the narrow streets, after having entered through a short tunnel opposite the landing stage. Lovely and peaceful when we were there. Also the station, which is only a 5 minutes walk up from the left of Om Maat is very useful for any trips along the east bank.

This is central in Godesberg and we love coming here for a cocktail at happy hour as the choice is terrific, with weekly specials (beware the St Pauli Killer, which truly lives up to its name!) The service here is always excellent, friendly and fast. You can also eat something with you drinks, as happy hour means 2 drinks for the price of one and they are not diluted with lots of ice unlike some other places. We go for the mixed antipasto platter to mop up the alcohol. Must say however have been here for coffee with aged relatives and the service is also great, as is the terrific Sunday morning breakfast. Always a pleasure to come here.
