Restaurants in Neualbenreuth

We stayed at the adjoining guesthouse for three nights in April as part of a large conference. We had lunch here both days because the food was so good! One of the best salmon dishes I've had! Others enjoyed the salad, soup, steak and kaese spaetzle.

I had a pork schnitzel; the other two members of our party had elaborate salads. My schnitzel was certainly very good; and there were no complaints from the others. The service was friendly and efficient. We sat in a courtyard: very pleasant. Finally, the prices were a good deal lower than I expected from a well-kept restaurant of this kind. Definitely recommended.

Waldsassen, Cheb, Wallfahrtskirche Maria Loreto in Tschechien, Sibyllenbad usw.

Altmugler Sonne is located in the tiny village "Altmugl" near the Sybillen Bad near Neualbeneuth - in the County Tirschenreuth, Upper Palatinate (Oberpfalz) in Bavaria, Germany. It's way off the main travel routes unless you like open hilly landscapes or you are on a bike tour. A small Golf course is nearby. We made reservation over the phone with chef Lemberger because the Restaurant is not always open. After our arrival Mrs Lemberger received us, seated us on their terrace and recommended Sparkling wine with "Hollunder" - local elderberry juice. We choose the Gourmet menu: You will received herbed butter, an appetizer (teaser) have a choice between 2 second courses, get the Salmon appetizer, have a intermezzo - a sorbet, then choose between two entrees and then choose between sweet or not sweet dessert. We choose on the recommendation of Mrs Lemberger the fresh South African White 2013 (I guessed it a Chenin Blanc Blend) of which they only bought 5 cases. As for the red a nice Malbec from Mendoza fit the Lamb and Beef Filet we choose very well. After it cooled down we were moved into the dining room that was all color coordinated on the table with fine bone china. The menu was fixed price - rather expensive for the area but well worth it...a steal when compared to big cities. This was a great culinary experience and the Lemberger's certainly understand what Hospitality is. Simply Bravo. I would not be surprised when this little gem shows up on Michelin or other bit rated food guides in the near future. Check them out: http://www.altmuglersonne.de/The family also owns a small Hotel/Pension...so if you like to drink, you might book a room there rather than engage the very dangerous road there

It's the center of Europe - Neualbenreuth, a tiny village with a tasty and wide selection of traditionally restaurants - Zum Grünen Kranz is one of those. Traditional Upper Palatinate kitchen served at a traditional Upper Palatinate bar parlor. Family enterprise with charm preparing lovely food.

We have been at Adamhof during the Advent season, the menu card was traditionally and typically for the winter season. Staff was nice and friendly and we felt welcome. It's not posh or special - but it's fair priced and delicious.

During our stay in Neualbenreuth we had dinner at 'Kleine Kappl' - a homely and rural restaurant with delicious food for fair prices. As it was cold outside, we could not use the terrace, but it must be lovely during Spring and Summer time. The staff is very nice and recommend the locals dish of the day - go for the smoked trout - it's mouth-watering!
