Um es direkt zu sagen: ein wunderschönes Gebäude in der Altstadt. Und dann die Enttäuschung. Schlechte Weinkarte, Billigweine in Literflaschen in einer Weingegend. Das geht gar nicht! Die Speisekarte benötigt auch keinen Haubenkoch. Also bestellten wir Matjesfilets 8.80, gegrillten Lachs 16.90, Sülze 6.90, Rinderleber 12.90 . Alles war gut zubereitet, aber auch nicht mehr. Für das Dessert wechselten wir zum Italiener. Ich bedaure es ausserordentlich, wenn man in solch wunderschönen historischen Gebäuden nichts besseres vorgesetzt bekommt. Ideenlos und ohne das besondere Etwas. Ganz traurig ist übrigens dass es fast in allen Orten am Mainwanderweg kaum eine gute Weinauswahl aus Franken gibt. Gute Flaschenweine gibt es selten und das an der Quelle !!!!

Qualität der Ausgangsprodukte und der Zubereitung sowie die GröÃe der Portionen hauten uns schlicht vom Hocker. In den ersten Tagen sind wir über die Vorspeisen nicht hinausgekommen. Ein göttliches Vitello tonnato mit Thunnfischsauce, Super Käsespätzle oder ein Eintopf mit sebstgemachten Nudeln und Einlage vom Charolais-Rind in einer tollen Brühe. Auch Low Carb-Gerichte sind im Angebot. Das Rumpsteak war butterzart und die Qualität der auf den Punkt gebratetenen Forelle stand dem Fleisch in nichts nach.

You have to come up all the way to this restaurant in the forest but it is worth it. Rustical ambient, wooden interior with no thrills. We had one of the dishes of the day announced with chalk at the entrance board and it was excellent: Deer goulash with red cabbage, very tender and tasty. We were offered also fresh apple juice, tasty juice without alcohol for the driver, but certainly one could also drink beer. The forests around invited for an autumn indian summer walk. You should check before driving to the restaurant, from November till end of April opens only on weekends and daily from 26 Dec to 6 Jan .

Lunch with friends, in this nice and old fashioned restaurant. We tasted a good variety of regional plates, all of them good and tasty. the restaurant has a homely feeling, very pleasant.

We had a dinner here, drinking great beers. There is room enough for large groups; the menu presents a good choice of plates, with regional food.The staff is very friendly and professional. We will surely come back in the next future.
