My friend and I stopped here for a few beers and really enjoyed it. Staff were great, the beer was delicious and the hearty German food was tasty. The bar itself is a nice place to be as it's got a traditional German feel to it and it was busy with holidaymakers for Easter. Despite eating and drinking plenty our bill wasn't big either so it was great value. I'd come here again if I ever return to Konstaz.

I arrived on a Monday night during dinner service, and had heard decent things about this restaurant. It was full, but was only offered a seat at the bar right next to the kitchen entrance. I understand if you are by yourself, it isnt always easy or profitable for a restaurant, but I feel that the wait staff went out of their way to put me in really bad place at the bar. They were loud and disracting to the point where I could bearly read the newspaper. When the food came, (Rumpsteak and fried potatoes) I had to get a salt and pepper shaker myself only to find that they had put pepper in the salt shaker. It ruined the meal. I would never go back there... too loud, lousy attention to detail, my meal was ruined, and it wasn´t cheap, as well as horrible seating. I just wanted to leave before the food even arrived as it was so loud at the bar next to the serving area/door to the kitchen/prep area/coffee machine.... When my meal arrived, it was pretty awful.

The restaurant is in the middle of Old town in Konstanz. It has its own brewery. The beer was so good. I had spare ribs which was yummy.

Ate here one evening when staying in Konstanz as is a pleasant harbour side location, and probably the best of the three caféâs there. Ate in the Tiergarden as opposed to the lover biergarten. Food was of a good standard and portions more than ample. However the waiter seemed to have ideas about how much he should be tipped, so ignored his advice and didnât leave one.

this place serves up THE best food in konstanz, period. there is only one catch: they have a daily menu, and you eat what's served that day - nothing else.one dish. it comes with soup and desert if you like, and it is unbelievably inexpensive (i avoid saying cheap, because this is by no means cheap food) it is excellent food at a bargain price. plus, they really have a beautiful setting, very stylish but not opulent at all. even with a terrace with great views of the rhine river. a must-try!PS: only open Tue- Fri. for lunch only! check their website, just google anglerstuben

Our philosophy is to make authentically crafted and tasteful food that arrives on your table within its natural taste. We consistently take a path away from ... mass production, unification of taste, convenience food, gene tinkering, agonizing animal husb
Went there as they offer a lot of glutenfree food. The portions are huge and the food tastes good. Very friendly service, will be back soon.

The Costanzer Wirtshaus is a place to visit if one want to taste an excellent homemade beer with a wonderful view on the Rhein river. They also have beer garden so it is particularly pleasant to visit it in summer, but also in winter one can seat inside with a beautiful view. The food is definitively good and traditional, but nothing really extraordinary or sophisticated: just the typical food to have with a good beer. I can advice the pork roasts and the goulash but also the Kaesespaetzle are very good. The grilled fish is also tasty. Prices are in the average for Konstanz restaurants (I live here) but the problem is that the restaurant is always very crowded. If you go on a weekend, you should definitively reserve despite the restaurant is big.
What to do and see in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland: The Best Places and Tips

Konstanz is a unique border town. Because it practically and geographically lies in Switzerland, directly adjacent to the Swiss border, Konstanz was not bombed by the Allied Forces during WW 2. The city left all its lights on at night to fool the bombers into thinking it was actually part of neutral Switzerland. So this building "Hotel Hirschen" also survived, I think. We came to this restaurant because they always have vegetarian menu, not just salad but a wonderful creative menu, and if you want to avoid garlic or mushrooms they do it for you. It is not the most elegant restaurant but the people are friendly and the restaurant is always filled with Swiss visitors, which shows something. They seem to be specialized in potatoes dishes and, what we had, potatoes gnocchi dough ship baked and filled with seasonal vegetables, was excellent.

For "atmosphere" read overcrowded with slow service. And if any of the locals eat there, they hide it well. The beer was distinctly average and my "chicken salad" turned out to be a lump of cold coronation chicken served with one lettuce leaf and a single slice of tomato (which even in England would have been described as "garnish"). Definitely one to avoid.
