Visited Lowen which is situated in the Basler StraÃe on our last night as we wanted something light to eat. As it was threatening rain we ate inside and it is a very modern style restaurant inside.We both had Tagliatelle with Salmon, along with a couple of glasses of local red wine. Finishing with a tea and coffee, a very reasonable 29 euros.We would definitely return.

Whether you are looking for a lovely meal at a restaurant with one of the most amazing views of Freiburg, March, Kaiserstuhl and The Vosges mountains in Alsace included at no extra cost, or you're shopping for a venue in which to host your next family function - with all of the above mentioned trimmings - this would be an absolute must. We've had the pleasure of doing both and cannot sing our praise loudly enough. Location, cuisine, service and cost - every bit of it makes for an experience we keep coming back for.

We were recommended this restaurant by a local as the best place to find good German schnitzel in Freiburg. We were lucky to get a table as it was bursting with local Freiburgers tucking into generous portions of excellent food. It really does serve schnitzel and variations on schnitzel with excellent potatoes on the side so don't make the effort if you want choice or fine dining but for a really filling meal of traditional local food it is excellent. And a local schnapps to finish off is ideal

We visited without reservation and seated in 5 minutes and we were lucky. When we finished the food we found more than 10 people are waiting. Food was very good typical German and cheap. Must try home made spatzle.

This place is a gem. We were recommended it by a local shopkeeper in Schonwald - and found it a few miles through some mountain roads, at the bottom of a ski-run. Lovely old gasthof, full of Black Forest charm with a regular menu of schnitzel and meat.I was fully resigned to another plate of salad and french fries, but was pleasantly surprised when my fiancee pointed to a vegetarian dish on the menu. The waiter confirmed it was completely vegetarian and I dived-in...The plate that arrived was superb. A smorgasbord of different root veg and legumes, all cooked nicely and although most of it was braised or fried, it wasn't heavy in the slightest. Even brough me around to the dreaded fenell! I hate that root, but this braised version was absolutely delicious, I'm converted.If you get a chance to visit this place GO, the food was superb (all my meat-eating partners loved it) and the ambience and staff were superb.recommended unreservedly.

We went with our son and his girlfriend, who both live in Freiburg, and met another couple (German/American, as my husband and I are as well), so it was a really mixed, fun group. The proprietress is amazing--she cooks everything from scratch, and wow! can she cook!! This is now my favorite place near Freiburg. Lena, our son's girlfriend, says that locals often come here after hiking (and well-behaved dogs are welcome), but we were there well after dark, and it was really full of young, happy people. We had the homemade spätzle and some of us had the wonderful cheese fondue. The Flammkuchen (flatbreads) on the other tables looked amazing, as well. The beer is great, the service in this family-run restaurant is thoughtful and attentive. The prices are more than fair. Please go to this wonderful place!Thank you very much for all the compliments! Perfect location, nice setting, good and attentive service, good presentation of food.Food quality was just average. The starters (scallops and fish soup) were okay but the main courses were disappointing. Pasta was too âwetâ. My daughter couldnât finish 1/3. My veal was over cooked. The steak and fish plate were average. With this price I expected a better quality.

After a long day at EuropaPark, the kids were tired and we wanted to have dinner near our apartment. The Apollon restaurant was not full, there were empty tables but a senior staff with long greasy hair simple dismissed my request for orders and said "we are full". We had booked a table for three. Menus were only in German but we had the chance to have a charming waitress speaking a perfect French to help us go through the menu and pick typical meals. From the outside the restaurant does not look incredibly inviting. However the interior does not look like much either. Why go here? Go for the food and the friendly down to earth honest service. This restaurant has a heart and a soul. A good menu everything is cooked from scratch. The staff is extremely well trained. Personal wishes are fulfilled. This time I enjoyed the wild garlic (Bärlauch) maultaschen. Delicious and well made. he wild garlic soup was good perphas a little less salt for my tasting but all together this was really good.
