Sehr freundliches Wirtepaar.

It has been awhile since we've been here, but I remember it as being one of the better Italian restaurants in the area with outstanding service. You cannot go wrong going here!

my host took me to this place, did not know what to expect but it was nice. Outdoor seating area in this weather was perfect. service is with a smile and reasonably swift. Selection of meals is not to wide but I can recoomend the burger I had. Value for money is OK.

The history of the restaurant had always fascinated me.Owned and run by a family since generations serving you their tradition -nothing but Classic. The interiors of the restaurant will surely charm you..originative and unusual, and so will the food. Some vegetarian dishes were customized for us and they tasted just great.Even though they were running a busy restaurant which they usually have, the staff attended to us individually with utmost patience and amity....speaks volumes of their expertise and experience in the business.

Having lived in the region East of Frankfurt for over 55 years, we finally managed to sample the Restaurant "Zur Krone" in Höchst by Gelnhausen. My friend Achim Günther from Günther BMW always spoke very highly of this hidden gem.The photos express our delight in a pretty good way. Service, ambience and the various dishes simply resulted in more than satisfied patrons.Whoever is looking for something special away from the big cities but still close enough this restaurant is 5 star plus.100% worth a go.....just pace yourself and keep some space for the deserts on offer.

I met Carl the original owner when I was stationed in Gelnhausen back in 1986 with the US Army, unfortunately he was not around for my visit. I used to sit and listen to the stories by the older men in the bar. This hotel bar/restaurant has been around for the longest time and is a meeting place for those who lived "in the day".Situated in the heart of the Gelnhausen Old City, a great launching place to discover the Barbarossa City. One of Europe oldest streets is around the corner as well as the church that towers over the city, built in the 13 century, truly amazing. Take some time and check out the cemeteries, the towers, walled parts of the city still standing and the nooks and crannies of the old city...look at the doors on the houses above the city center and notice how they are only about 5 feet high, gives an idea of how old they are...pure history. If Carl is still around, he can tell you of the hey day and the US Army days, if not some of the guests will have something to say.A great little gem!

Nice location with a beautiful view of the surroundings as it is located on an elevated place, surely in the summer months would be more pleasant to dine outside on the terrace. Big Food proportions, thatâs why I was already almost sated after eating the entry l. Service was also friendly and attentive. Worth coming back in our next trip.

I ordered the Schweinnemedallion mit Covadore when visiting Gelnhausen. This food was so good and reminded me of my grandma's (Oma's) home cooking. It came with a side of spaetzel that was perfect. Service was friendly and atmosphere outside was amazing!

I think it is! Great experience here and one of the best meals I had in Germany! (That's splitting hairs though because I had great food for the most part during a 3-week trip)It was probably the best food presentation of any restaurant I went to and similar to how restaurants in Japan take care to pay attention to small details. I love basement restaurants in the "old town" areas of European cities because they always have historic character and this place fits the bill. An ancient basement with great atmosphere. In summer, it was cool and I didn't have to dodge bees, fleas, flies & cigarette smoke so these were all bonuses on top of the delicious, healthy food & atmosphere. Not sure why everyone else prefers to sit outside under those conditions!? Food gets cold quickly too. Sit outside for drinks but for a nice meal, no thanks. The staff recommended a delicious dinner as the menu was in German and I could understand mostly what was being served. The seafood was very fresh tasting and I really enjoyed all of it. Definitely eat here for your 1 nice meal out when in Gelnhausen. The other places can't really compare as they seemed more casual.
