Reviews on German food in Bielefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Set on a pass between the northern and southern sections of the Teutoburg Forest, Bielefeld is home to about 325,000 people. Sparrenberg Castle, one of the main attractions, dates from the 13th century, as do the Altstädter Nicolaikirche (St. Nicholas' Church) and the Neustädter Marienkirche (St. Mary's Church). The city also figures prominently in the Bielefeld Conspiracy, a German internet joke that the town does not actually exist, but is rather an elaborate alien or government conspiracy.

Wow, coming to the end of our tour of Europe this has been the best meal yet. Fantastic staff amazing in their advice. Incredible would be back tomorrow if we weren't moving on.

Wernings Weinstube is very well located: right in the heart of the old market, in the basement of the city theater. In summers you can sit out in the cobbled square, and in winters you have the friendly atmosphere of the large and well-lit basement. I was there on a day when sitting inside felt good. The wine list is extensive, and the prices are quite reasonable. We ordered by the glass, since we each wanted to try a different wine. This is the best part of the menu; which is quite reassuring considering that the place calls itself a weinstube. The most eye-catching part of the food menu was game. I didn't try that; having found that their kitchen is not the star of the show, I was not unhappy to go with the local food. The ham is excellent, and the pickert is something one should try in this part of Westphalia. The unglamorous local food is actually done well enough to make this restaurant a minor success.

Visit the restaurant GeistReich and let yourself be spoilt by our chef de cuisine Rafael Kucharski with local and seasonal cuisine
We eat out a lot in Bielefeld, but this was our first experience of Geistreich and we were given a rest treat. We had the 4 course set menus with matching wines and every course delivered something different and flavours we have not experienced before. The 5 taster desserts were a delight (see photo). The restaurant was quiet and the service was therefore very timely, in fact we could have done with a bit longer between courses. About the same price as other high end restaurants in Bielefeld. Will certainly return!

Top Beer Bar And Restaurant On My Recent Trip
We went to the "alt Bielefeld" because we were told, it was a traditional german beer/restaurant-Place.the interior is very traditionally german style.the drinks were not expensive and very nice.the service was very wonderful, a very nice lady that was friendly, patient and funny. But the food - all the Schnitzel was deepfried and - for our taste- rather greasy. the Pommes Frittes were not deepfried, but obviously came out ot the oven. They were not nice at all. The salad was not very fresh and the dressing was from a bottle. So that food was really not what we expected. The lucky ones that ordered "Grünkohl" - a german traditional winter-dish made from cabbage, potatoe and meat, were very happy with there food. I tried it too - it tastet much better than the Schnitzel. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice and cosy.A good place to have a drink, but I would not go there for the food.

Our restaurant stands for a culinary journey through central Italy in the traditional ambience of the Bielefeld Hawk's height. The traditional house welcomes you in its three restaurant rooms where a hundred-year history meets Mediterranean influence. The
This is a really good place to eat and something of a gem, hidden away on the ridge over Bielefeld. Def worth a visit but be aware, the menu is only in German. I will be going again in summer when the terrace will be amazing but I suspect it will wise it book then.

The Schlichte Hof is a bit outside of Bielefeld (actually a good 10 minutes drive from the center) and certainly not worth the hassle to go there. Whle the setting in an old house is very nice and actaully you sit in the old barn which has been nicely decorated the food we had was... well my girlfriend and I agreed that we would be shamed to serve such tasteless overfatted and undercooked food to any guests in our home. There really was a huge lack in basic cooking competences, so we are not talking something that has gone astray as can happen to anybody cooking from time to time.

This restaurant is situated in the middle of a residential area not far from the city center and close to the hotel we were staying in. Not having much time left on the evening of our arrival we planned our visit to this restaurant in advance.Vahle has a typical German old fashioned interior with some nice details in the decoration. Choice of dishes is quite large. We had a starter and a main course. The presentation of the dishes surprised us positively. We really enjoyed the food.Service is good as well. They always keep an eye on you. So, you aren't left waiting if you would like another drink.Only downside I could mention is that there were few customers (4 tables). But then again, as said we were there quite late and it was a weekday. If you're looking for a little bit upscale typical German cuisine, this is your place in Bielefeld.

We went here last Saturday. We had a booking upstairs and had a lovely time. A couple of our group had Wiener schnitzel and I had the roast schweinbraten which was delicious. My friend from Bielefeld had the Schweinhaxe which looked great. The staff was friendly and efficient.
