It lies on the border of Bavaria and the Czech Republic in the Elster gebirge hills. It is situated on the river White Elster, and is protected from extremes of temperature by the surrounding wooded hills. It is 25 km southeast of Plauen, and 25 km northwest of Cheb. The B 92 runs close by.

Wenn Oberbayern als Vogtlandurlauber im Elstergebirge im traditionsreichen Alpenhof landen, hat das schon einen gewissen Reiz. Der Wirt bediente persönlich und kann auch Alphorn blasen. Das Hotel scheint sehr reizvoll zu sein. Aber angereist aus Bad Brambach haben wir (leider) nur zu Abend gegessen. Das allerdings war hervorragend! Knoblauchsuppe und Gänsebrust vom Feinsten! Das Ambiente ist (zum Glück) nicht alpenländisch, sondern echt vogtländisch. Wunderbare Wohlfühlatmosphäre und nur wärmstens zu empfehlen.

Hier steht man manchmal vor verschlossener Tür, auch wenn eigentlich geöffnet sein sollte. Aber es gibt nirgends einen Hinweis darauf....naja dann kommt man nicht mehr wieder, wenn es nicht verlässlich ist.

We came here for dinner today without prior reservation. Unfortunately the beautiful beer garden was already fully booked, but we were seated inside within seconds. Staff was downright friendly from the first moment to the time we left. They all spoke good English, German and Greek, which was great as we were a group from different countries. Menus unfortunately were only available in German.The food was delicious. We shared a starter of garlic bread and feta cheese cream. I highly recommend the latter - very authentic, fresh and so so tasty. My main dish (Poseidon Platter) was a great mix of different dishes - exactly what I was looking for and very plentiful.The deserts we shared were super delicious as well. A free shot of Ouzo was served before the food and a free espresso afterwards.Beware: they do not take card payments which was not communicated beforehand. Our bill came up to 81 Euros for the four of us, but we only had 75 Euros in cash. The friendly waiter was happy to give us a discount to spare us from finding a bank in this small rural town. We will certainly be back with double the tips next week!All together we had a great time

Ich habe hier zu abend gegessen und war nur teilweise zufrieden. Die Roulade war sehr scharf angebraten und damit war das Fleisch nur mit sehr guten Zähnen genieÃbar.Der Geschmack war in Ordnung und der Rotkohl ebenfalls.Die Vogtländischen KlöÃe waren nicht frisch zubereitet.

We had been told of the the special beauty of the big hall - well, after sightseeing the town, I´d not been impressed by the hall at all, but they really did offers tempting German cakes and cookies plus drinks. Very nice

Wir haben dieses Café durch Zufall gefunden. Daher wundert es mich, dass so eine gute Adresse bei TripAdvisor noch nicht eingetragen war.Die Lage ist perfekt und der Service des Personals einfach herausragend. Nicht aufdringlich, sehr nett und freundlich, schnell und zuvorkommend. Ein rundum Wohlfühlpaket.Nicht unerwähnt darf ich lassen, dass der Kuchen oder die Eisbecher sehr lecker sind und die Qualität der speisen perfekt.Schade, dass wir nur zu Besuch bei Freunden hier waren, sonst hätten wir einen Stammtisch reserviert.Jederzeit zu empfehlen!

L'ambiente è elegante e l'atmosfera è ricercata. Nelle belle giornate si può mangiare sull'ampia balconata all'aperto.I prezzi sono giusti, il cibo è impiattato con cura, la cucina è varia, con buone specialità della zona, situata in un angolo di Germania vicinissimo alla Repubblica Ceca (con una passeggiata nella natura di un paio di chilometri dalla piazza principale, si può superare il confine, segnalato da una serie di cippi sul terreno). .Il primo neo è costituito dall'impossibilità di usare carte di credito/debito internazionali(una diffusa abitudine dei tedeschi, le cui banche operano con modalità protezionistiche) che assurdamente coinvolge anche una località a vocazione turistica come Bad Elmst).Il secondo punto negativo è stato uno dei due camerieri. Mentre la donna è stata professionale e cortese, l'uomo è stato piuttosto arrogante.

I visited in June 2013, and I was treated with great hospitality. The hotel room was clean, and I had a beautiful view of the large ski hill and large pond. The food at the restaurant was delicious. I usually ordered the schnitzel, but the entire menu is prepared with high quality ingredients by knowledgeable chefs. The location was perfect; it is right on the pond, so there is convenient access to paddle boats and scenic trails. The owner and his family provided excellent service in every last detail. I was even recommended a wine that was spot-on. I will be returning to this establishment in the future. Thank you, Goldner Anker for a perfect vacation.
