At the top of the cable car above the village of Maurach, overlooking lake Achensee, on finds three different restaurants. We only tried this one, which also serves as a mountain hut offering accomodation. The hut has a very cozy, warm wooden interior, split into several mid-size rooms, and a large outdoor terrace with an amazing view of the mountains, the valley and the lake.It offers a nice selection of drinks (including draught beer), some lighter snacks as well as decent main dishes and even a large selection of cakes for dessert. They even make a good cappuccino. Prices are very reasonable. The place is family owned, and run by a friendly young staff. There is lots of room inside and out, so it's also convenient with children.A pleasant surprise at the top of the mountain.

parking at the route from Rottag-Egern to Achensee at the Siebenhutten parking (euro 3,00 for a whole day). And taking the hiking trail to Siebenhutten (past the trout breeding grounds to Siebenhutten will take you 45 min and is easy to do also for smaller kids. Having a drink and home made cake at the Siebenhutten lodge. Very friendly and cheap. Take the other route back to the parking alomng the banks of the river which is fun for the kids!!!the whole route will take about 1,5 to 2 H on a kids pace with minimal elevation. The owner speaks german with a bavarian accent but we as dutch people comming to this region for some years now, it is good to understand.

Located in the center of Maurach, Cafe-Restaurant Klingler spoils you at all times of the day - no matter if you want to enjoy lunch, a coffee break, dinner or a solid snack in between. Well-known for its specialties made of homemade ice-cream and its tem
Stopped off here for lunch, beautiful sunny day to sit out on the sun terrace. Staff were great and helpful. The cold meat salads we ordered were delicious. Then we decided to have an ice cream, fantastic choice of different sundies, a lot with liqueurs. Happy days. To say we were full when we left is an understatement!! Will certainly pop in again the next time we are in Achensee.......

Family, business or solo visit, i think this is a great place to enjoy local food. The menu is splendid, and the portions are huge ! Hopefully the staff can provide you with take-away boxes so you'll have a second taste (sometimes even better...) the day after. The atmosphere is quiet and they can accommodate tables for 2, 4 or larger groups! The waiter is a typical Tyroler guy, high in color and willing to help. My poor german did help a bit, but when he speaks at normal speed... i'm lost (but it doesn't matter: with hand and words, we got what we desired).Service was a bit slow - only one guy in the kitchen - but it was on the new year's day... so i suppose it deserve a second chance.
The Christlum Alm is probably the biggest restaurant in the Christlum ski resort. Despite their size, every time we are there for lunch during our ski day I am amazed about the quality of the food, the cleanliness and the choices. The salad buffet easily competes (and may even win) with any hotel. I love their Speckknödel (bacon dumpling) soup which is very tasty (little bit spicy) and clearly home made. And don't miss their cakes!Staff are very friendly and keep the place very clean.

As a couple we went here for drinks. Apparently no one ever orders coctails but I ordered their alcohol free Mojito and it was great. The ice coffee was cery tasty too. Worth the extra walk inland from the lake. Going back for food later this week as they actually have a selection of vegetarian food!

Very cute and characteristic austrian restaurant. Located along the main road it shows up with its real beauty. The food is typical of such mountain region and very well served. We tasted a deliceous soup and two different main courses which were so good. The top was reached with the dessert: a crepe with icecream and fresh cream.I would suggest this restaurant to anybody wants to taste typical slow food and relax himself in a very cute gasthaus.Personnel is quite professional and warm and pleasant.Quality price ratio a bit more that 1.

We ate lunch at this lovely restaurant with our fellow travelers. We had a delicious lunch called "Almrosti". It was shredded fried potatoes topped with ham and covered with cheese and baked. We really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The staff were dressed in authentic outfits. It was a lovely relaxing, delicious lunch.
