Community owned village freehouse with a lovely large garden that's great for dogs and kids, just a short walk along the river from Olney. Run by the former bell and bear team. Gourmet evening menu and simple pub grub in an expansive countryside garden
Still owned by the community but now with the undivided attention of the Manager/chef who has moved from the Bell & Bear in Emberton , a group of us descended on the tranquil venue the check out the new 'setup'.We were benefiting from a specially created menu and what a menu it was.Whilst the names of the dishes were well known, what was served up had a special something or two which put them head and shoulders above what we were expecting.I had the Pork with black pudding and apple. Not just any black pudding but the multi award winning "Stornoway" black pudding - a rarity in this neck of the woods. The starter of 'Classic' Prawn Cocktail was amazing and certainly not anything I have experienced before. The normal PC sauce but with an added mouse type sauce which was fantastic,Superb food, efficient service and a great night was had by all. Many of our party were already planning a second visit as we were leaving.A great village pub with an ethos and ownership value that is worth supporting.

.The Swan Salford is an attractive Edwardian pub in a lovely village setting, 10 minutes from central Milton Keynes and just 1 mile from junction 13 of the M1. Itâs perfect for a drink after work and as somewhere to meet, eat and drink with friends. The S
We visited The Swan earlier in September and were expecting something special. I must say that the service and atmosphere were excellent. Our main courses were good although a little pricey, which I can forgive as they sell draught Estrella lager! What is unforgivable was the £6.50 Pavlova dessert with TINNED strawberries. Totally ruined the whole experience.Good afternoon John, Thank you for your comments and I have passed on the compliments on service to the rest of the team. I can assure you we do not, and will never, use canned strawberries. We macerate fresh British strawberries with sugar and mint to make our pavlova. This is what draws out their sweetness and juices that create the syrup for the dish. We are very proud to say that our food is all fresh, we use as many local suppliers as possible & our menus are written using seasonal produce.Hoping to see you again,Lianne

The Cross Key country pub & kitchen is set on the outskirts of kempston, giving you fantastic food in lovely surroundings
Ordered Confit Duck Bonbons, which came with Peashoot and spring onion garnish and plum dressing. The dark green sliced top of one spring onion was very mean, no white onion or pale green. Needed more garnish, in fact whole starter was very small for the price. My wife had a Spiced hummus, which was very bland with a few bits of stale Pitta bread. All in all a very underwhelming experience.

A great little local pub. Sat in the restaurant section with the sound of the locals area full of friendliness and laughter. Three of us out for a spot of dinner. Risotto was ok but bits of extreme heat in. camembert was as usual the best plate ordered and the burger was a good offering. All in all a value for money dinner. Good choice of deserts too. All 3 were eaten very quickly and were tasty. Staff friendly and helpful. A great place to go eat, drink and be merry

If you like fried food visit hereThere is not one healthy thing on the menuFried fried fried nothing elseUnbelieveable how foodies rate this placeIf you enjoy this place good for youIf you like a nice meal with quality foodWell you donât visit hereBut after all itâs your choice Not mineWould never return to the fried food paradiseChips chips chips We review our reviews very carefully and we are at a loss with this one.In this instance tripdog 1 you have been grossly unfair to our little business. Our menu is certainly not all about fried foods. We have some dishes that are fried but that is because they wouldn't taste as nice if cooked in the oven. And surely good flavour and textures are what our customers are looking for. There is no sin in frying some dishes and we have never had anyone complain that there are too many fried foods on our menu so your comments are strange and overly unkind. And "chips, chips, chips ??? You only have chips if you want them. There are many other alternatives to choose from on our menu. Did you read our menu ? You can have a delicious creamed mash potato, cous cous or even coconut rice as your carb of choice or why not try a salad ? We have many healthy options on offer including our extensive vegan menu. Our chefs have been working on our new winter menu which is coming out this Friday ( 27th September ) which will have delicious healthy dishes for everyone. Some fried, some roasted, some grilled. What a pity you'll miss it.
