Where to eat Gastropub food in Kilkenny: The Best Restaurants and Bars

December 27, 2019 Dorsey Hagwood

Reviews on Gastropub food in Kilkenny, Province of Leinster, Ireland. Kilkenny is over 400 years old, but it sure doesn’t show its age. Yes, it's an awe-inspiring throng of medieval cathedrals, castles, abbeys and other massive stone buildings, but Kilkenny loves to party. An endless stream of arts festivals celebrating theater, comedy, bluegrass and dance is constantly pumping the city with new life, toe-tapping energy and international flavor.

We were tired, it started to rain and it was 3:30 so we slipped in and decided an early dinner would work.Their lunch menu was reasonable so we ordered. I ordered the roasted chicken which was but just barely roasted. It came with a very nice jus and Caesar salad.Mar didn’t fare as well, ordering a wrap made with pork that was very tough and had a taste she did not enjoy. No one offered to remove or replace it. We finally ordered a salad so she stuck with that. The home run was a dessert of a pastry “box” filled with a Carmel, then a dark chocolate topped with chocolate mousse. The plate was beautifully garnished and included a scoop OF VANILLA ICE CREAM. HEAVEN FOLKS!Service was slow. They were setting up for dinner but we still felt underserved.Thank you for sharing your feedback. I apologise that we did not exceed your expectations and you weren't offered to replace your dish. I was glad to read that you were impressed with Chocolate Mousse & Toffee Tartlet. Your comment about food was brought to management's and chef's attention to ensure and maintain the standards. We hope we'll be seeing you again sometime in the near future! Kind regards, Left Bank Staff

My mother, brother and I chose to have dinner here during our short stay in Kilkenny. This was an excellent decision as the staff, environment and food were all fantastic. The venue itself was so quirky. It was bright and airy yet, still maintained many of its original features with gorgeous plasterwork, sculpted ceilings, stained glass windows and brass finishes. I particularly loved the collection of framed cartoons on the walls! Our servers for the evening were Dee and Chris (I lived up to my word mate. It only took me a year to get this review done!), who were absolutely amazing. Nothing was a trouble for them and their friendly attitudes and conversative nature made our experience even more enjoyable. The meals we had consisted of fish & chips, steak and the daily roast which was chicken. These were served in a timely matter and were absolutely delicious. We enjoyed our dinner so much that we returned the next day for coffee before leaving Kilkenny. The staff this time, Caroline and Jessica, were just as friendly as their predecessors. The coffee was beautiful too.Dear quinni_224 Thank you so much for your very kind review , I will let the particular team members know they got a mention, they will be delighted.we are very glad that you enjoyed dinner ,service and the atmosphere. We will be delighted to welcome you back again. Thanks again for writing this review, we really appreciate this.
