Generally a quiet place graced with lovely terrain for strolling, Glastonbury is very busy in the summer because of its music festival. Best known for contemporary music, the festival has attracted almost 200,000 people in recent years (whereas Glastonbury's full-time population is only 9,000 or so). There are a number of historical monuments to see in the area, including Glastonbury Lake Village, Glastonbury Abbey and the Somerset Rural Life Museum. We can't say that the weather is always good, but on a sunny day you can't go wrong!

Built in 1475, on the site of a previous 11th century inn, we were established as a hostel for pilgrims visiting Glastonbury Abbey. Now the premier location in the mystic town for food, drink and accommodation
Lovely old building, friendly welcome at the bar & only a shared table available to have lunch. No problems. Ordered a â?Fosseway home cooked ham with something glaze, some special farm eggs, chips & a watercress saladâ - conjured up a mouthwatering plate of real Westcountry goodness. Yum! Partner ordered a burger.Food arrives: burger looks fine but the ham - 3 slices of thin, pre-sliced ham that could have come from an Asda pack, not a hint of fat let alone lovely glaze, 2 eggs - looked good with firm whites, a pile of chips -& one solitary 4â sprig of watercress... £10.99. I donât think so. Burger was fine.

Saturday night at 6pm. The pub is empty. Totally. I ask for a half of bitter. The barman says I have to check I can serve you as we are fully booked. Just in case you missed it earlier , the pub is empty totally . I say how long do you think it will take me to drink half a bitter. Anyway he comes back eventually and says he can serve me. Obviously I said donât bother. On the way out the owner / landlord shouts out an expletive which I canât put here and says donât come back. What do you think, am I ever going to go back. Check my other reviews and you can see I am generally very positive. Please please donât give this establishment your custom. Whatever the quality of the food donât support rude serviceThis person attended our restaurant in an intoxicated state. Staff and management advised him he would not be served. He became verbally abusive and this caused alarm and distress to staff and customers. In order to safeguard our customers and staff he was asked to leave.

I decided to take my mother for a birthday treat to the Duck @ Burtle and what a treat it was for us both. Very welcome greeting, nice atmosphere, very attentive service without being over the top and excellent Duck for the main course. My motherâs dessert was at first thought a little small but the cheesecake was very rich and tasty so in fact just right. My cheeseboard was more than enough to round of a lovely supper at the Duck. We shall return.
