Tigh Mheaic is a lively eclectic pub situated in Carna - a stunning coastal fishing village in the heart of the Conamara Gaeltacht. You are likely to find all sorts of characters local and visitor hanging around Tigh Mheaic having a pint or a bite and enj
Desperate for some lunch we pulled up to this pub with fairly low expectations because it really doesn't look much from the outside. However, we received a warm welcome & the menu looked good. Two of our party ordered fish & chips & my son ordered a burger while I went for the smoked salmon salad. While we waited we all enjoyed a fabulous pint of Guinness, so good.As I had a cousin living somewhere in Carna I asked behind the bar if they knew her, amazingly her son was working there in the bar - what a coincidence! The food came out & it was amazing, so fresh, tasty & beautifully presented. Whoever's in the kitchen they do a great job. My salmon salad was probably my favourite meal of the trip.So if you're in Carna do yourself a favour & call in here & have a meal.

After reading hungryhorse's review compared with everyones else's, I decided to check out this restaurant on Monday 6th May at around 2pm. We were a party if 6, mainly French, and all enjoyed our meals. The food was properly cooked and was served in reasonable time, allowing us to enjoy our glasses of Guinness. Shona, Morgan, Charlene, Laura and Megan were pleasant, friendly and proficient and we felt welcome. So, the food was good, the staff were friendly and the Guinness, a new experience for most, very acceptable. What about ambience? Well if you like to eat in a dance hall, fine, but seriously this needs to be addressed. Our table was covered in a wrinkled paper cover that had been cut with grandma's spare dentures. It was not very professional. Can do better.Don't let the origami table dressing put you off, you will enjoy your meal.

We came to Ireland 20 years ago and found a pub with live local Irish music...and havenât had any luck finding more on subsequent trips until this little place. Clever menu, music on Monday and Wednesday by a lovely set of fellows who played for fun. Great time.

We drove up to Clifden via the Wild Atlantic Way and came across this cute town nestled between hils and the sea. After looking at TripAdvisor for restaurant recommendations, we decided on Macdara's and we were not dissaponted. The quaint style and great live music were amazing. The good was some of the best in Ireland that we had and the seafood chowder was the best my husband and I have ever had. For non seafood lovers (our daugther) there was a chicken pasta which was wonderful. You not only need to go to Clifde, you need to eat at Macdara's. There is a a beautiful patio out the back that overlooks the sea but we got there late and ate inside so we could listen to the music.

After a long day of driving, my wife and I stopped in for dinner on Sunday evening and they had musicians there. While the pub was busy, the owner made sure we were seated and served promptly. My wife had the potato leek soup with goat cheese and I had the seafood chowder. We will be back on Wednesday evening because the musicians will be there again.
