I just wanted a light lunch, so chose an omelette. The service was second to none. The omelette was enormous accompanied by salad and coleslaw. I'm afraid I couldn't do it justice. I can't praise the waiter enough. Will definitely be making a return visit when I'm next in the area.

Four of us came just before Christmas. Our daughter and son in law from Australia had come before and enjoyed a lovely meal. This time the service was poor. We had to go and find the waitress to ask for more drinks. She did not clear the dirty glasses from the table, The menu was very restricted. We have eaten here before and had lovely meals but this has put us off I,m afraid

Stayed here with 5 friends and on the strength of the visit booked immediately for a further stay. Hidden away in a housing estate this is not a pub that would attract passing trade however it gets busy and thats great to see, Rooms are very nice... we had 3 twins one was slightly cheaper and this was reflected in the size but it was still very usable. No complaints re comfort etc... breakfast on both days was brilliant and the evening meals we enjoyed on both nights did not disappoint. as i said on the strength of our positive feelings we booked once again. for those people who live local its a great assetDear Ian Thank you for taking the time to post a fantastic review regarding your recent visit to The Woodberry Inn. We sincerely appreciate your comments and are delighted that you enjoyed your dining experience with us.We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Kind RegardsThe Woodberry Inn

Swan Inn

Reviewed By Elisabeth09359

We have been eating and recommending this establishment for a few years normally favouring Table 9 in the tastefully decorated Bar area. Yesterday (July 21st) us and a group of friends had booked a table for Sunday lunch. After bragging to our friends how good the food was going to be, alarm bells started to ring! Firstly the Menu clip board had been replaced with a tacky piece of paper and there was a rather scruffy man with long hair behind the bar. Knowing the high standard always adhered to by the staff this wasn't ringing true. We then realised he was the new owner and the Chef was no longer there. We ordered our food but had a sinking feeling in our stomach. When the food eventually reached us after a ridiculously long wait it was inedible! The vegetables were bland and just plonked in a dish, the beef extremely tough and the gravy appeared to have been made in the microwave as I believe alot of the food was too. There were loads of people complaining around us. I felt very sorry for the young Staff, Tom the Waiter and who has been at The Swan for a long time, was as professional as ever and couldn't apologise enough. I can not believe how a place like the Swan with it's excellent first class reputation could be reduced to the worst place I have ever eaten!! The new Owner should have had his hair tied up if he was going to be serving food to a table. As it is out of town, places like the Swan have to have a good reputation for excellent food otherwise they will not succeed. The food was not worth half of what they are now charging. It is such a shame and I for one will not be returning. I do however commend the young Staff there and we will miss seeing them. My priority now is to try and track down where the old Chef has moved on to. His Sunday lunches were the best in the County! I have awarded one star for the Service on here, that does no reflect on the young staff it was for having to wait over an hour for our lunch!
