Reviews on Gastropub food in Bayeux, Normandy, France. The northern French town of Bayeux is best known for the eponymous tapestry that depicts the 11th-century Norman Conquest. You can see it, of course, on display at the Bayeux Tapestry Museum. The cloth’s original home was the Bayeux Cathedral, which still towers over the area, looking a bit like a Gothic wedding cake. Inside you’ll find beautifully detailed murals and haunting crypts. Bayeux makes an excellent jumping off point to tour nearby historic WWII sites.

The owners Isabelle and Thierry Lhuillery are strongly attached to the region, which displays lot's of famous specialities. Their cooking is both original and typical. The owners know pretty well the local producers, with whom they have been working for m
Everyone enjoyed the dinner with various selection and wine. Service was excellent, food was great price more than normal but worth it. Went here based on TripAdvisor reviews and our D-Day guide

Disappointed by this place. We asked out hotelier for a fish restaurant and she suggested this. It was very poor. Firstly its expensive. Secondly the decor is poor. Dark red all over - an Americans idea of what a restaurant should be perhaps. It is successful solely because so many Americans visit after going to Omaha beach. Th owner and staff are friendly, but the meals were rubbish. Tasteless starter. Opted for the special of the day - a mixture of prawns and scallops. Very little on the plate. Tasteless. Poor choice of wine on a la carte menu. Only 5 whites (in a fish restaurant!!!). We chose the cheapest, a Languendoc sauvignon blanc that was disgusting. A £3 wine from Aldi at best. We baled out at £100 and went for our coffee and sweet elsewhere.

A framework refined for a kitchen of great tradition. With heated terrace Since 1985, the Tavern of the Dukes, Parisian brasserie on 2 levels (120 places on the 1st floor and 80 places in ground floor) accommodates you 7j/7 as a group, family or between f
The waiter with a mini ponytail and beard who served us needs training in customer service. I ordered escargot for starters and steak for main meal. Without asking how we would like the steak cooked, disappeared to the kitchen. When he returned with the mains, I asked about my escargot and he bluntly exclaimed "You did not order escargot!" Seriously? I did not want to make a scene, as we were with the grand-daughter of a WW2 veteran and we were hungry so I let it be. The steak was small but good, but beef from local supermarkets here in Normandy is always good (at a fraction of the price charged in this restaurant), and the 'salad' consisted just of a few strips of lettuce and half a cherry tomato with a drizzle of vinegar. Portions were way too small, service diabolical, meals over priced. AVOID.
